About 18 months into the Hobby... 45k plus in chips... do we have a problem? (3 Viewers)

Some amazing sets here! Only problem is I haven't played with them yet lol
Damn Bill, that is one hell of a compliment brother!! Thank you soo much!!

Honestly miss you buddy!! Hopefully we can get back to normal soon!! Can't wait to get back to playing and seeing everyone on the regular again!!

Beyond sick guys! I mean haha good lord. That is honestly unreal in both quantity and quality. You two are my kind of people 100%. Congrats on an impressive hoard.

I just read the first few pages and you made a few mentions to veterans and other members, and guys, you graduated, head of the class, valedictorians. PCF Homecoming court. You lapped 99% of the field.

I feel like everything I’ve worked for is child’s play. I feel like I need to file for PPP or something.

You are the scrubbiest donkiest chip hoarders around. Keep it up :)

in regards to the slugged chips, use them to tile your floors, and your countertops, and showers.

So I packed up the buttons and decided what the hell! It will only take 2 hours to lay all the ASM/CPC samples out on the table!

Every single chip is a true work of art!!! Well done... well... everyone!! Haha

Tons of help with these from my chipping brother @BarrieJ3! If he ever logs back on I think he will be proud of this pic!! Thank you Jeff not only for help with us, but all the chippers you help out with samples on the daily. Selling at cost, or less ALL of the time!! Many times even giving chips away to someone that needs them!
You really might want to think about getting a hobby... :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

Too kind my friend! We knew this would be a hobby for us, we experienced true generosity right off the break! But new to the hobby we didn't have a lot to contribute! I hoped someday that we would be able to earn the right to have a seat and splash pots with some of the greats!! But what can 2 blue collar average joe rednecks bring to such an amazing forum ... overtime it just happens man, first off read everything!! Take notes, and learn everything you can rather specific casinos, types of chips... cleaning methods (which I get hit up about all the time) learn to speak the language. When the offer is out there to go play poker with other members... honestly none of us knew what to expect the first time... but just do do it!! Learn the crazy circus games.

One day when you build your sets and have a few extra chips someone will hit you up out of the blue... doesn't matter who they are, send those chips off and don't even think about it!!

Chipping karma is real! It will hit you back in the face when you least expect it!!

Story time*** warning! This is my thread, if you don't want to read it feel free to skip!

As dumb as it may sound, when Brie and I split our first set of BCC Mardi Gras V2 chips last year for a Christmas present to each other... we fell in love with those chips! Our friends and family's fell in love with them also... but adding on to the set is almost impossible. Doesn't matter what they cost or how they were thrown around back when they were released.. in today's time they are ghosts... tied up in private collections and not coming loose any time soon!

But our local game that we were invited to by @krafticus is the game to be in around these parts!! 36 players and a wait list to get in! Always 10 plus chippers in the card room!! Honestly every month it is the one thing you truly look forward to is Mark's game!! Also he occasionally allows guest sets to be played... there is no bigger honor in my eyes than building a set that we can all sit down as chippers and enjoy together!

Again maybe silly but I knew my goal with this set would be to felt it in one of Mark's games! But 36 players of 12/12/7/5 starting stacks and a on time bonus of 1k... it takes a monster set to cover this game!

Let me stop here and explain where this thought came from...

Last Christmas @Chippy McChiperson made a dream come true for me, he brought his BTP tourney set, all 43mm chips and let all of us play them!! I know this set catches a ton of hate but to me there is simply nothing better!! That same night Bill's awesome brother Rick @kirchhausen also brought the BTP cash set for everyone to play... AND Bill brought some of his limit BTP set just for me to check out!!

Yes those are the secondary $25s you have herd of, but probably never seen... in my freaking hands!! Insane!!

While all of this probably meant next to nothing for many in the room... if I died on the ride home... that would have been ok! Mark throwing scratch offs into random pots, amazing chips everywhere as far as the eyes could see!

Brie spent hours making cookies based off the BTP chips

We had our scrub donkey attire on from @JeepologyOffroad ! Stopped for a quick pic with our good buddy @Highli99

Just all around an insane night of fun for a true chip nut like me!!

This was all after Pat's game for the Turkey shoot out 2019 a few weeks before!

Freaking insane set up! One of the best dealers you will ever find @PhilLaFond and I was lucky enough to make the final table with chipping Gods @Cliff and Chippy! Just another amazing card room and true dedication to our hobby.. I knew that we are going to have to step up our gameto compete at this level!!

Around that time frame @MikesDad, our buddy Dennis also invited us to come play in the Lions Den... no pics but yet again another amazing basement set up with anything you can imagine poker wise.. tons of custom chips, custom tables, a full bar.. one of the nicest damn human beings as a host!!

Seriously amazing collections built with years of dedication to this hobby!

But our house will never be these monster places that could fit 5 tables... we could never host these monster games or meet ups you see on this forum... but we still want to be part of it!! We have come to think of our local PCF crew as family, they all invited a couple noobs into their well established game and asked absolutely nothing for it!

So the idea of bringing some new sets into the mix, something that we can contribute would be a huge honor for us. Maybe someday we will grow our game into something legit like this... who knows. But my obsession with chips doesn't go away... why build little single table sets? When we all get together it's a big freaking group, build the sets to accommodate so that if the opportunity ever does come up... we can bring something to share also!!

So back to Karma...

I knew that Mardi Gras were the one thing that nobody around here had... a BCC tourney set... something different, octagon 5ks and plaque 25ks... a different experience that many in the group haven't played with before. But how the hell am I ever going to find enough for that many people!! I thought it would take years to find... a few wanted ads for hundos with no response hundreds of chips short of my goal... it seemed this was a fools errand!

With help from @markleteenie, @pacmartine and @liftapint helping out of kindness... not looking to profit or trying to get other harder to find chips. These guys understood the importance of this set to us and helped out!! Even hurting thier sets in the process. I can't thank you guys enough!!

This one was huge for me... again maybe cheap low end chips, but they mean the world to Brie and I, to finally be playable at Mark's game... truly means the world! This is a forever set to us. Happy to play them anytime anywhere but if you wonder why so many chips! Our local amazing chipping family is quite large, if you want to get a set in play... it has to be a monster!

Moral of this long boring story... if anyone made it this far! Help others if you can! Bring samples and lots of things for people to look at and check out, draw new people to the hobby, keep your game fun with an awesome rotation. The community is only as strong as the effort you put in!! To all of our lifetime members hope to meet everyone of you someday!!

Oh and Covid... seriously go away!! All of our locals have made or bought new sets and I would like the chance to shuffle some!!

Some day I'm going to ask Brie and Ben what they did with their lives before discovering PCF and chipping! :cool

(But not now... :confused)
Normal Red Neck Events... cutting trees for the fall, splitting fire wood, pulling stumps, moving dirt, planting new trees, actually killing game... not just sitting out there waisting time... frisbee golf... everything else is pretty much a blur at this point. Now mostly just cleaning chips, tourney break downs or talking about chips!! Lol

Has @Cliff ever offered to play the Bacement chips??? Man I look forward to a chance to see and play that set someday!!
The set is not big enough for @krafticus’s game. They are on a semi-permanent loan to my cousin in PA since I never host anymore. Should be enough to support a two table tourney sometime in the future.

Road trip!!!!! No worries brother, just never seen the full line up, love the holiday chips I have from the series!

Any pics Cliff?

Thanks for the shout-out. You and Brie have outdone many of us here on PCF with chip sets, but you are also well respected members of the community who would bend over to help anyone else on the site. I know I appreciate you looking out for me when I was searching for some chips and have for Brie pinging a potential buyer in my recent classified.

I'm happy and sad to say our daughter has moved in to the basement, so I'll be lucky to hold a 1-table game after this Covid stuff is over.

Thanks again for all you do here on the site and for being a great friend.

I absolutely understand Dennis. Hopefully like I said we can get back to normal life soon brother. Thank you so much for the kind words! Like I said we have a very strong poker family here in Maryland and I wouldn't trade it!!

Still would like to be on the invite list, even with a single table game! We always enjoy playing at the Lions Den!! Happy to hear you were able to help your daughter out! May be a basement apartment but it's still huge and beautiful! Hope all is well and everyone is healthy! That's what's important!!

So in my long ass post yesterday, I mentioned bringing lots of chips to share and let people sample what is available. I didn't have any pictures of our BOX. This particular case is almost always with us... the tag says Best Samples... we used to have a better mix in there... now it's mostly BCC and Paulsons, but if someone ask to see something particular we just change out chips.
20201111_085502.jpg

One Particular Treasure that Brie found are the C.J. Sisk CO. Chips... always on the hunt for these!

Freaking awesome way of showing the different edge spot patterns from Paulson. From what I understand they were a sub company that sold chips or a distributor that would send these samples out for casinos to look at and choose what they liked.

This is by far the largest sample set of these I have seen so far.

For us its giving people a chance to shuffle and check out chips without paying the big price tag for sanples.

Happy Veterans Day everyone, members of any Military branches worldwide, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!

i read this as $45k plus in chips, and i was like whoa that is crazy, then i realized it was only 45k actual chips and i was like oh okay maybe that's not so ba..........OMFG
I don't want to do they money math here, never have... scared of the results... unfortunately its probably over the number of chips... yes we have quite a few slugged chips but even many of those 08 casino royales cost around $.50 each... I wish we had found this hobby years ago when prices were more on the resonable side... but yes I would say probably that number in dollars as well.

Oh well it's just money!!

Miss you and Brie as well Ben. Fingers crossed for a big chipping/poker 2021! Great posts/stories.
Definitely looking forward to putting 2020 to our stern and it is looking hopeful for everything to get back to some type of normality in 2021!! Hang in there buddy, we will get back to the felt! You know... we have yet to have a chance to play on the same table and share a hand... something I hope to remedy soon!! Always happy to make a donation to my brother Phil's stack!! Haha

Ben

Nasty wet mid week holiday here on the east coast... managed to get lots of single fracs cleaned and into the collection. Finishing up wiping down yet another rack of PCA hundos to add to Bries amazing PCA primary tourney set!!
20201111_120926.jpg

T5 based these days is not really impressive or liked by many, but I like @Poker Zombie love keeping the collection interesting and offering different blind structures in an attempt to keep the regular play from getting stale!
20200509_153031.jpg

Hopefully today we can get a new, updated family photo as the set has definitely grown since this picture!!

Building for a 30 player T2000 set with 15/13/11/1 starting stacks, and a full rebuy for each player!!

We will have to get out the dealer buttons, cut cards and all the accessories to this one for the new pic!!
