For what it's worth, you do not have to add any foam for height in the Apache 3800 case, which holds up to 1,000 chips, but the case is maxed out and harder to get the chips out..
The Apache 4800 holds up to 2,100 chips. You have to triple stack seven rows of 3 stacks high!
Up to 1,400 chips would only be double high stacks and you would need the foam.
I need to get some pics without the chips in them because I get asked about these all the time!

Left case is 8 racks of 43mm, 2 racks of 47mm bounties, plenty of room for extras around the edges (4800 case)center case is triple stacked 39mm (only showing 6 rows but 7 fit to the right and is 7 now older pic and set has grown) the right is a 3800 with 1000 chips double stacked but not much extra room!

This 4800 has 1000 43mm chips in Matsui Type racks... they do not sit up high enough for top pressure but the lids hold the chips in place! Room for extras and buttons

These are 4800s with the foam installed 1,400 chips in each. 7 racks double stacked... you can see the chips are slightly raised above the foam... pressing the chips into the top foam to hold them in place for transportation.

Better view of the elevation here... when that lid closes these chips aren't going anywhere!
1000 39mm with plenty of room shown here with
@Ronoh P+P chips
