Welcome to PCF!
I'm glad that the shipping cost fluctuations haven't dissuaded people from taking the plunge. With the options we have stateside, I still believe these to be not only a great value, but a great product overall.I too am taking the plunge with Gavin on some chairs.

These bases can be made with 'glide' instead of wheels for carpet. I'm getting 8 like this plus 2 of the same chairs you guys have ordered with the swivel and wheels.
Current pricing for the diamond pattern back you guys have shown here several times is $155 (Gavin says its mainly variations in shipping costs is why the numbers move around).
The stackable base saves me $5/chair at $150. If you didn't want the diamond pattern, you'd save another $4.
Adding in the tax, I also come out to around $165/chair.
@Himewad I also would prefer something that stacks - these look like they'll do the job.
I'll let you guys know if anything unexpected goes on.
You want to be welcomed?
Oh shit stackable is possible. I’m happy with my gassers but that’s tempting. Anyone switch from gassers to these?I too am taking the plunge with Gavin on some chairs.

Damn that is a bummer! I hope you're made right. The colorway is awesome with your table, and it provides a cohesive feel.I'm going to have to get better pictures but my chairs came in a few weeks ago. Unfortunately there was damage to the tops of my chairs and I'm actively negotiating with the seller on some kind of remedy. That part isn't going so great.
All of my boxes were busted open in some form or fashion and the tops of the chairs have scuffs and gouges in the piping and leather and several of the seats have damage as well. It seems like some of the damage was caused by the loose cylinder and metal parts in the boxes. Either way they're decent chairs and as long as I can come to some kind of resolution to cover the repairs to the chairs I have no complaints.

This is it! I've been waiting for someone to do logo embroidery! I can't wait to see how it turns outI’ve also placed an order earlier this month and got a price of $168 per chair including shipping, taxes, etc. I did only order 8 and I also added my logo to the back so we can see how that turns out. Gavin said that is sewn in and not stamped or painted so that sounds more premium. I got the black on black diamond pattern with the black wheel base.
Also I didn’t see it mentioned earlier so forgive me if I missed it, but they do include a 5 year warranty as specified on the invoice.
Like the others in this thread Gavin was super responsive and helpful. So far so good.
Now I wait.
They let me order as few as 8 but I got 10. The difference was price. Higher price for lower quantities.Did they change the minimum order? Was 12.
Yes the shipping boxes are way too flimsy. Most of mine were horribly bashed and gashed. Like they had been thrown off a roof and dragged behind a truck. I was 100% sure something was missing or damaged…but miraculously nothing was. Yeah they definitely need to use more tape and secure the metal pieces in the boxes. I actually told them that so hopefully they do that going forward.Yes the shipping boxes are way too flimsy. The boxes the bases came where much more sturdy. They should use that type of cardboard box for everything .Yeah they definitely need to use more tape and secure the metal pieces in the boxes. I actually told them that so hopefully they do that going forward.
Did they ever make you right with the damage? I’m waiting on my order to ship, so I am hoping they improve their packaging between now and then. Still dealing with Alibaba and the manufacturer. It's a VERY slow process. They basically keep offering incrementally better resolutions I guess until both parties feel made whole. It started with nothing but an apology then through negotiations with alibaba they offered to send me replacement piping for the chair backs that I would somehow have to install myself but that obviously didn't address any other damage on the chairs. As of right now we are up to replacing the 2 worst chair backs completely (just the backs) and a $50 refund (presumably to be used to repair the chairs bottoms).Did they ever make you right with the damage? I’d be frustrated as well. I’m a bit surprised Alibaba isn’t making them replace all of the damaged parts or that the seller ins’t proactively trying to make it 100% right. There have been multiple orders coming from this forum, so you’d think they would be thinking about the bigger picture.Still dealing with Alibaba and the manufacturer. It's a VERY slow process. I'm trying to keep an open mind and realize this isn't something they did maliciously, but that doesn't mean I deserve a damaged product. I'm honestly 90% happy with the chairs. Construction is solid, colors are good, and the overall quality is really good. The only issue I have is the damage through shipping. Better packaging would help a lot.
I wouldn't sweat it. My issue seems to be an isolated problem. Even though others have had beat up packages mine was one of if not the only one to sustain any damage from it. This isn't even close to my first order from Alibaba (I'm the person who originally found Tina for the scrub donkey chips years ago) I've spent 25k or so with them. I'd imagine it's just Alibaba trying to protect their sellers from possible scams. While frustrating I'm not sweating it, we will eventually come to a resolution.I’d be frustrated as well. I guess that is one of the risks with Alibaba. This is my first Alibaba order, but even though it is so much cheaper than name brand chairs, you still expect to get what you pay for. I’m sorry you are going through that, but at least hope they make changes to their packaging to improve this in the future. Almost everyone in this thread received boxes that were severely damaged by the time they arrive. Even though these appear to be a great value, it is still a ton of money to spend. I’m hoping they get you totally taken care of in the meantime. Thanks for the update.
I don't think they care too much about the money coming from this forum compared to casinos that are ordering hundreds of chairs at a time. I don't think they want it to go bad either, but it is ocean freight from China and no middle man in the US doing QC. I was quoted 40 days, it has been 46 days now I think, and showing them to have landed in the US port on 12/5 but still nothing from UPS saying they received them.I’d be frustrated as well. My experience was similar for the tracking to the dock. So were the back and bottom cushions not wrapped in plastic inside the boxes? Or did whatever damaged the boxes just go right through the plastic too?Still dealing with Alibaba and the manufacturer. I doubt there is shipping insurance even available for ship freight like that.So were the back and bottom cushions not wrapped in plastic inside the boxes? Or did whatever damaged the boxes just go right through the plastic too?
Also, I assume since you are dealing directly with the seller and Alibaba that there was no shipping insurance?
Gotcha. I was picturing rub damage. Would you be willing to share some photos of the damage?I doubt there is shipping insurance even available for ship freight like that.
As for plastic. Yes they were in plastic bags but that didn't prevent anything. Almost all the damage is from either forced impacts making permanent marks, cuts or indentions. Or the loose metal parts hitting the seat backs and bottoms in the box.

No, these are enough for me. This totally sucks and I'd be way angrier than you seem to be if I received chairs looking like this...View attachment 1238018View attachment 1238020View attachment 1238021View attachment 1238019
All of the chairs have these gouges and marks on the top. Most of the chairs corners have some type of abrasive marks on them exposing the white under material and all the chairs have the line across the top that is where the box seam was. I gave them weeks hoping the marks would "work themselves out" but they are obviously permanent.
I can get pics of the bottoms too if you need it once I get home. I just had the wife take pics for me since I'm not there. The pics I sent to Alibaba are on my PC at home.
