Are CPC Rounders Chips Worth the $$? (1 Viewer)

They are quick over there! For those wondering, here is their reply about customizing the rounders set…

“Any customisation at all means they have to be made from scratch the next time they are in production which could be 6-12 months away.
Similarly, anything that is customised adds considerable cost and the custom part has to meet the minimum order requirements of 300 chips and average at least 100 per denom.

If you stick to stock denoms then customizing just the breakdown doesn't cost any more.”

Needless to say I think I’ll be sticking with the stock colors for now.

So, now that I’ve decided on a set of Rounders I will need to look into selling my Veneratis. These are the “old” quality Veneratis from 2011/2012 so they are great chips and very lightly used. Any recommendations on a per chip price? Does $.35-.40/chip seem reasonable?

Seems fair to me - I’ve seen used Chipcos sell for less, but they’re generally pretty heavily used. These days, who knows about pricing? Couldn’t hurt to list them and then later, lower the price if necessary.
I do have a full sample set of the original veneratis that I’d be happy to sell, if somebody’s looking for one. They’re great chips; I always kinda regretted not getting a set.
It’s also important to note that there were later veneratis that were either knockoffs, or just not of the same quality. So if you do try to sell, make sure you put up some quality pictures, so people know what they’re buying.

Thanks for the info! I’m trying to dig up my old receipt from them as well so I can show that they are legitimate. But, like you said, good pics showing the color quality should prove that as well. It’s a pretty drastic difference between these and the newer knockoffs.

No way to get around the wait, but a group-buy for the new design might be a good way to get past the minimums.

Just got my Veneratis posted if anyone knows of someone in the market for a nice ceramic set!

Found the receipts. 1200 are from 2013, 200 (the $.25s) are from 2019.

I'd be in for a group buy...
If a Rounders CSQ group goes forward, I am looking to get 50 or so custom 25ks, pending design. Please tag me if it happens.

I’d ideally want 8A14 spots.

I have 10 of the AMAZING orange $1ks from @JMC9389 but might prefer them as a $5k with a yellow $1k if there’s custom opportunities

While we’re on the topic of the KGB chips, does anyone know if the bear art work is public domain yet (assuming so given they’re on these chips for sale) and, if so, where one could get a copy of it? Does anyone on the forum have the image?
The bear art work is definitely not public domain, and probably won't be for another hundred years or so. The artwork was created for Rounders by an artist working for Atlantic Standard Molding. The artwork was copyrighted by that artist at the moment of its creation, and although the copyright was probably immediately assigned to ASM (and hence now would be owned by CPC, who purchased all of ASM's assets), the copyright's duration is still determined by the lifespan of the artist. The copyright will not expire until seventy years after the artist's death, and god willing, that date is still quite some time away.

Edit: It's quite likely that the bear art was a "work for hire", in which case it would have been owned by ASM at the moment of its creation, and the duration of the copyright would be 95 years, assuming that printing the chips constitutes "publication", in which case there's another 70 years to go (or thereabouts).

You might be able to get .35 per. put them on eBay and see if you get any bites.

Would anyone be interested in some $20 customs? I have 68 of them That I never use and would rather orders some 100s.

@Willpass We were both right in the sweet spot. Ended up getting $500 (+ shipping) for the entire set in under an hour on the classifieds. May have gotten a tad more had I chopped them up and waited, but I figured ~$.36/chip was a good deal for the both of us. Next step, ordering my Rounders!

You will not be disappointed.

So, after some extensive research on breakdown of my new combined cash/tourney Rounders set, I've come up with the following:

$.25 - qty 200
$1 - qty 200
$5 - qty 200
$25 - qty 150
$100 - qty 100
$500 - qty 50

900 Total Chips

When we play cash games, we will play anywhere from $.25/$.25 up to $1/$2 depending on who shows up. I went heavy on the quarters as I like big stacks and they will get a lot of use during the $.25/$.25 game. For tournaments, I'd be running T1000 with the following breakdown for 10 people: 20x5 + 16x25 + 5x100 = 1000 chips. With adding the $500s, I can go up to T1500/T2000 as well as accommodate color ups.

I know there are concerns to be had with combining a cash set with a tourney set, but if I host tournaments, it's usually mostly close friends and family who can't stomach a cash game. So I'm not all that concerned about it. Plus, I am OCD when it comes to my chips. I count every chip at the end of the night and will be keeping them in a custom, locking case/table I'll be building. If I am able to build my game back up to consistently field 2 table tournaments, I'll invest in a separate tournament set to reduce the cash/tourney chip concerns. But I don't see that happening any time soon.

All that said, does this breakdown seem right? Is there room to add another 100 somewhere to make it an even 1K set?

Open to any suggestions. Again, I've been out of the game for a bit but am diving back in full steam ahead and want to do it right the first time. Thanks again for all the help so far!

You could keep the quantities of .25/$1/$5 for your cash games and do a T25 based tourney with the following breakdown (400 total):
T25 - 120
T100 - 120
T500 - 50
T1K - 75
T5K - 35

Great 1 table setup with 12/12/5/6 starting stacks.
Best thing is, you’re not mixing any chips from your cash game.

This 100%. 12/12/5/6 is an excellent starting ratio, even 1000 chips, and not overlapping between two sets. Never been a huge fan of t5 tournaments anyway. With the higher denoms and it being imaginary money anyway I feel like the higher the better

@Colquhoun, you may have a winner there! Seems like that is the best of both worlds. And I tend to agree with @AZBOARDER13 in that higher denominations are better for tournaments. Thanks for taking the time to put that together for me.

My chips set is as follows

$.25 - qty 150
$.50 - qty 161
$1 - qty 200
$5 - qty 290
$20 - qty 68
$25 - qty 122
$100 - qty 120
$500 - qty 50
$1000 - qty 75
$5000 - qty 50

Works well for all cash and tourneys.

Damn it...you guys sure aren't helping my bank account!  But I think you've all sold me on them! I love the movie, so I can't think of a better set to invest in. And yes, that is a badass dealer button! Doesn't look quite as tasty as KGB's Oreo's though! I'm assuming from the comments, they are no longer available??

Thanks again for all the pics and comments. CPC thanks you too because they are about to get a sale!
This is an awful forum for your bank account!

I love my CPC Rounders with the scroll mold. I'm a little jealous of the CSQ mold, but I'm committed now.

These chips - playing with them - it's probably a favorite investment for me in the past 4 years or so.

Also - I'm looking for a rack of $5 and a rack of .25c if anybody has some they find they just aren't using.

You'll love the chips. Order a sample set of both molds from David at CPC and feel them. I think you'll be sold :)

I think I'll be going with the CSQ mold since it's only a week out in production. My samples are supposed to be showing up tomorrow so I'm trying to hold off on buying them until then...but it's been hard!

Just shipped my Venerati's out today, so I'm officially chipless...so regardless I'm going to have to buy something...ha

I'm hoping so! David said that the Scrolls are in stock but that the CSQs are in production and are about a week out from payment to shipping.

Assuming I like the samples when they show up, I'll be placing my order tomorrow!

Wow, he must've had a bunch of orders on these to fill over the last few months.

Wait so CSQ is open to orders right now?

That's what he told me last Thursday. Here is his exact quote from my email:

"The Scroll mold are in stock and ready but stocks are starting to run low.

The CSQ are in production right now and are effectively being made to order at this time. About a week from payment to shipping."
