I've already solved this beyond what would be considered reasonable doubt in a court of law... the naysayers just feel not acknowledging it will make it go away.

Exhibit A:
Mass agreement of a sandwich

Exhibit B:
The naysayers agree this is also a sandwich
View attachment 87013

Exhibit C:
Not one single person will disagree that this is a sandwich

Therefore, Exhibit D:

Your Honor, members of the jury, I submit that anyone who agrees with Exhibits A, B and C can only disagree with Exhibit D if they are living in a fantasy world. Their arguments are loosely based on thin circumstantial evidence that is easily discarded when the matter is viewed from a rational perspective based on facts instead of the simple desire to see their own opinions win. The defense rests.

Lol. D: not a sandwich.

Look, it's like the distinction between art and porn. Both may be pictoral representations of nude people. It may appear that the definitions of both apply to each other. There may even be some overlap between the two. But largely, people agree these are 2 different things.

This is the direct analogy of hotdogs and sandwiches. (Hotdogs are the porn).

To make this analogy would require one to place each A, B, C and D into a specific category and provide a reasoning for each.

This thread is patently absurd.

Hot dog vending machine
When the switch 28 turns through its predetermined timed cycle, the light 32 extinguishes to thereby visually indicate to the purchaser that the cooking cycle has been completed and that the hot dog sandwich is ready for consumption.

Apparatus for filling sandwich buns
Figure 4 is a perspective view of a modified device for inserting a weiner Within a bun in the making of hot dog sandwiches.

Figure 5 is a perspective view of a hamburger sandwich, partially broken away, which has been filled following the instant method and using the device illustrated in Figures 1 through 3.

Wiener vending machine
A primary object of the present invention is to provide an improved hot dog sandwich vending machine affording coin-actuated electrical circuits for cooking and delivering individual sandwiches, the machine being especially characterized by the inclusion of means for handling and cooking the sandwiches so that no metal prongs, electrodes or other parts pierce the sandwiches, thus positively eliminating the likelihood of contamination of the food and of endangering the health of the consumers.

Food object holder and drip preventer
FIG. 6 is a top plan view of a modified form of the invention with the pusher means in fully retracted relationship and with the tray means shown holding a different type of sandwich comprising what is conventionally known as a hot dog, which consists of a longitudinally substantial cylindrical weiner carried between longitudinal half portions of a general similarly shaped longitudinal bun and provided with appropriate spices, seasonings, sauces, relishes, and/or the like.

FIG. 7 is a view generally similar to FIG. 6, but shows the pusher means after it has been digitally pushed forwardly, perhaps in a series of successive steps interspersed by eating operations, so as to correspondingly move the hot dog sandwich forwardly toward the open end, comprising the discharge and egress means into the proper projecting position for allowing a person to progressively eat the projecting end of the. hot dog sandwich.

There's no shortage, and it's not just patents. The scholars seem to agree that a hot dog is a sandwich:

If you have ever been to Gray's Papaya, you would know that hot dogs in buns are indeed sandwiches :) ...and if you haven't, next time you are in NY, skip Broadway and head over to the Mecca of the Hot Dog Sandwich

The longer this goes on, the more I realize why Donald Trump is the President.

Stupid people are easily swayed.

If you weren't calling it a sandwich before this thread... o_O

This is actually art. Not a sandwich at all......same with this:

I had a roommate in college who would pretty often make an Eggo PB&J which is just what it sounds like: two toasted Eggos as the bread in a PB&J. Not bad honestly.

I guess the question for me getting to this thread late in the game is "should I really read through 13 pages of posts or is it enough to know this isn't solved yet?"

Based on your claim that meat on bread is an openface sandwich, and pb & j between waffles is a sandwich, how can you deny that chicken on waffles is a sandwich.

You seem to be drawing the wrong arbitrary line.

we covered open faced sandwiches earlier in thread. not a sandwich.

Anybody who claims that an open-face sandwich is not a sandwich either can't read, is stubborn beyond reason, or has seriously-flawed logic issues. Not even open for debate.

Can't read? Because it's named sandwich?

FFS guys.

If you asked for a "hot dog sandwich" they'd look at you as if you were f*cking stupid. Do you know why? Because "hot dog" and "sandwich" make no sense when mentioned in the same sentence.

I would guess most would serve you a hot dog. I would also guess the overwhelming majority, quite possibly all of them, would eventually serve you a hot dog if you stuck to your guns and simply repeated "hot dog sandwich" if pressed to elaborate.

Too many focused on the stupidity of how "hot dog sandwich" sounds. It's not a debate on what it's called, it's a debate on what it is.
