Sandwich?

Toby, Toby, Toby...read the last clause of the definition. A sliced bun maketh a sandwich.

Sliced into two halves. Not scored, like in a hotdog bun.

I have to confess, my knowledge is limited to the UK hotdog variant, which is the scored bun. A pork cylinder in a sleeping bag.

They might be served differently ("properly") in the US?

If they are served in a bun that's sliced in two, I'm happy to change my vote and go "Yes" on this this bitch

They are sandwiches at the Tampa airport

Yeah but that could be a hot dog in a bun, which wouldn't be a sandwich, put between two slices of bread (which would be a sandwich).

Do you have photos of said hot dog "sandwich"?

However the same sign states they put mayo on a grilled cheese sandwich so this may be fake news.
Mayo on grilled cheese is one of two secrets to amazing grilled cheese. But: you put it on the outside of the sandwich--it caramelizes beautifully and adds amazing flavor. The other secret: Dijon mustard on the inside.

You're welcome. And a hotdog is a sandwich.

You put butter on the outside of a grilled cheese.

Well, that's my point. Mayo instead. You'll thank me, I swear.

I'm in the don't knock it until you try it camp, but mayo in grilled cheese? PM me your address. I'm going to try it, but if it tastes like shit, I'm going to mail you the uneaten portion of the sandwich.

Don't think I won't. I had a friend move to Boston that complained he couldn't get good pizza, so I mailed him one. If you think USPS is hard on chips...

I agree. BTW does gopher put mayo and syrup on pancakes?

I just had a great sandwich. Hebrew national, straight up on a traditional (non new england) bun.
I really like hot dogs with chopped onions and relish, but if it's a good quality dog, I'll take it plain every time!

I have to concur that a hot dog is, in fact, not a sandwich. Why? I don't know. It just isn't.
