I'll tell you what that is. It's a fucked up mess....neither a sandwich or a hotdog. The guy who made that probably thinks potato salad is actually a salad.
It is, however, f#cking delicious. Shrimp salad and mashed potatoes with hotdogs...who knew?

And yes, she is hot.

When I was in the Hanging Bat (hipster craft ale/beer pub) in Edinburgh a few years back, they were selling "gourmet" hotdogs for £9 each.

Back then that would've been around $13 a pop.

'slaw, fries, sauces... All extra on top.

No way a sandwich would carry on that way. No sandwich!

Liked this post after reading the first paragraph but had to unlike it by the end.

If I block all the sandwich deniers, will the poll be unanimously correct?

Isn't a sandwich a sandwich by virtue of the two separate bits of bread "sandwiched" together?

Aren't hotdogs served in a single roll, so not a sandwich?

I expect I'm the 20th person to ask the exact same thing itt

Toby, Toby, Toby...read the last clause of the definition. A sliced bun maketh a sandwich.

Imagine if you went into a restaurant that had a huge menu, including hotdogs, and you walked up to the counter and said to the employee, "I think I'm going to order a sandwich." In his head, that employee would systematically rule out everything on the menu that you're not ordering, including hotdogs, because he knows you're ordering a sandwich. It's intuitive. Hotdogs are not sandwiches.

If I take some ham and cheese, put it on a single slice of bread and fold the bread in half so I can eat it with one hand, is that also not a sandwich?

L

PS Although I love this thread, I confess to not having read it in its entirety.

PPS Perhaps we need to add political affiliations to the OPs pole. To answer the question, are Liberals more likely to understand that a hot dog is clearly a sandwich?

If you ask a waiter to take a piece of bread and fold it in half after putting in some ham and cheese, he will charge you for 1/2 a sandwich. Are conservatives able to accept losing the argument 64 to 36 (sorry for you conservatives who have seen the light...AKA...hotdog is not a sandwich.

The 2-1 divide would indicate to me that political differences are irrelevant. This is a philosophical discussion where gender, race, income levels, considerations of standard human decency and religion are not influencing factors.

None so blind as those who will not see (or read, in the case of the definition provided above. SAMMICH.

As posted earlier, you need to do something about these Canadians smothering their fries in cottage cheese and using turkey gravy.

Your "definition" doesn't support your position. A hotdog is not a light snack, is never referred to as a "hotdog sandwich". What is your definition of "sliced."

Sandwich deniers, you are looking at the trees and the beautiful leaves, you're bumping around from tree to tree, trying to understand.

"is this tree in the woods?... what about this one? Are we in a forest? what is a forest? define a forest ...Help me!!"

Breathe deep, open your mind. You will see, a sandwich is the forest, the woods, and the trees.....it is all.

I'm pretty sure that this definition belongs in the WTF thread.

Two trees is not a forest.

1 bun, sliced in half does not make it a sandwich.

I can only show you the world is not flat. What you choose to believe after that is your perogative

If you'll concede that a sub is a sandwich, I'm not sure how you could argue about a hot dog or a lobster roll - they're the exact same thing on a smaller scale.
And also the same as a finger sandwich on a larger scale.

And, as a finger is similar in shape to a weiner, I think we can end the discussion right here. SAMMICH.

Personally, I like to use the index finger in mine, but two pinkies will do in a pinch.

Here you go again citing wikipedia, the online encyclopedia any psychopath can edit. Lobster roll, not a sandwich, it's a lobster roll.

Agreed.

What about the New England style roll? Totally different than a sub, and a standard for the lobster roll, and the superior roll style for a hotdog.

Agreed.

Ugh. I've eaten them all my like and they're totally inferior. But in both cases, it's an elongated hunk of bread, sliced down the middle. Same but different. But same.

The New England hot dog roll is clearly superior. You are apparently not grilling yours in butter.
