I felt it was perfectly acceptable for me to call him out for being an annoying troll after what he said. Even @upNdown would acknowledge that his choice of words was at the very least poor, and by many people’s standards trolling. The fact that he started a thread on the other site on the topic supports this.
So to answer your question, if someone posts something that suggests myself or my friends are “butt-raping” people, you can 100% expect me to reply with something insulting towards that person.

I just keep seeing this reference to trolls - not just you but other- and this term has no other meaning other than a derogatory insult. It’s detriment to any kind of mature discussion, and if your defense is “he said something bad first” then there can never be any discussion.

I disagree, the word does have meaning. It suggests that he posted for the main purpose of creating discord. It suggests that he primary motivation was not to provide useful information to the thread, but rather to stir up bad feeling.
So when I called him a troll, it was specifically because I felt his post was trolling the thread and served no purpose beyond inciting issues. My response was not made as a derogatory insult, and my choice of words was intentional.

Yeah, for whatever it’s worth, I’m okay with that. It got me thinking about whether it might be true. And it seems like a fair response from somebody I had just called a blank blank-er. Yeah, it’s probably a personal attack that could be moderated, but I’d rather see less moderation and thicker skins (though I recognize that can be a slippery slope.)
