Cards mold chip cashed in? (4 Viewers)

Probably not "if" as all it takes is an "Aria's chips" google search to lead someone straight here, though once they arrive it will be easy for them to see that measures had already been taken.

I will say that this event has caused me to put more thought towards my own stance on replicas of live chips. I believed there was no chance one of these chips would be passed off until I saw this post.

It's a good thing there is written record of measures to limit counterfeiting. Being so documented as a trail to the producers I could imagine an elaborate legal problem for members possibly designing or owning these chips (since real ones are effectively akin to cash in vegas). Hopefully this does not cause any trouble for anyone not involved in the actual fraud.

Haven’t been around people much I guess….

My samples say tournament and no cash value which is defensible as a tribute. Was there another round where they got closer to the casino version? The colors/spot patterns/general inlay feel is close enough no need to veer on the edge of counterfeit territory.
As someone who was trained to spot counterfeits in a previous life, "close enough" is not good enough if the proper procedures are followed.

They make it very very clear in Vegas that chips are not substitutes for cash for transactions. They are not legal tender and are not to be passed off or used as legal tender. It’s against the law.

I was in vegas for 3 days in my early 20s (20 or so yrs ago). I forget the hotel name (I didn't book it and was admittedly totally smash drunk the entire tie from the plane ride there till home)....however I do vividly remember paying for nearly everything with casino chipset cash where I was staying (I may have been Ceasars? But honestly I may just have visited the casino floor there....it was a great trip)

Is this more recent change or maybe I was leaving big tips in chips and skipped out on a few bills lol

Aria is a little sloppy in this respect in regards to purchasing table massages from the army of table massage ladies they employ

All I know is that it caused a load of trouble for several people here and abroad that were not personally involved with the actual Borgata chip fraud, but had roles in the design, production, or distribution of ACB chips. People and their businesses were threatened.

Go to the Nugget and try swapping some of those Icons out for these...

I wonder if it will be looked at differently simply because there wasnt racks of Aria's flushed down a toilet.

You're thinking of a different Borgata fraud that involved tournament chips.

This could spark a change with the casinos and cheap ugly plastic shit chips! I hope they start taking it more seriously and question their investment in cheap plastics
I like your optimism, but I’m not sure it makes sense. We’re talking about a casino that uses Paulsons and they got burned by a fake.

That was unfortunate. The ACBs were made in a different time (when the chipping community didn’t really embrace copies) and I believe were made with the best of intentions to be a cool tribute. But the problem was that they were just too good.

Can't imagine Vegas wanting to continue to switch to ceramics/plastics. Guess they will put RFID readers on the actual tables so people can't mix the in? There will be tech that could not set off RFID alerts if not already in this case?
That’s the bigger risk… those cheap Icon ceramics have no distinguishing features. Do they have RFID in every chip? Are sensors and dealers that quick and accurate?

With this, the chip should have jumped out to anyone handling it. Mixed in a rack (who’s cashing in a rack of $500s?) or under another chip at the blackjack table, yeah, I could see it sneaking in.

Side note- You search on Alibaba and this pops up- it’s not too hard too of a stretch to get to the one shown above. Doesn’t mean PCF was/wasn’t involved.

Before we all descend into madness, can anyone verify if this story is true and not just another twitter account trying to fake engagement with stories that seem plausible but isnt true?
Just ran across this on X. I can’t believe someone would try it, and definitely can’t believe it would work. If true, I’d expect some type of crack down. Though, not sure what they can do.

I get you, but this is the first non-sponsored result on Google when you search 'Aria's poker chips', so there's even a groupbuy of them listed. If anyone cares to make a story out of this, it will be the people purchasing them en masse as a community I figure.

Edit to add: I love these videos but this is also a few links down, video about them saying the best way to get them is through group buys on this forum.
