Cards Mold/"Tina" Alibaba Ceramics Master Consolidated Info Thread (6 Viewers)

the stippling on the light blue seems worse than I've noticed in the past. Maybe because it's zoomed in so much. Is this consistent across all of the chips? how does it compare to the 39s?

It seems the same as 39mm but really doesn’t seem visible to me with my eye under normal circumstances.

I looked through all 1,064 of my new-to-me New China Club cards mold chips, and I found that ~3% of the chips were slightly larger, by a small but noticeable amount. I don't have calipers to measure, but you can visually see they are taller when sitting in a rack. Some denoms had none (like the dimes, quarters and 50¢ chips), $5s had less, but nicklels and dollars had the most of these slightly larger chips.

It's not a big deal, but just wondering if this is something others have found with their cards mold chips? As far as I know the set of 1,000 and the 64 chips (8 sample sets) were purchased as part of the same group buy.

This has been discussed in the past couple months. Actually I think a private GB I ran was one of the first to notice it and we received our chips I think in October. Ask we noticed the stack height was different by about a half chip per barrel from the original GBs. The original GBs did not have these inconsistencies. It’s unclear if they had different batches and mixed them together or if their supplier has bad QC. I have a couple sets that arrived by boat and by air in the past two weeks. I will check them out for this when I have the chance.

The batch we just got are definitely thinner than previous GBs. The earlier 4 sets all fit tightly into Unique racks @ 20/barrell.
These chips fit 20/barrell, but have side to side play the others didn't.

I also have not yet specifically stacked all side by side looking for further inconsistencies....yet..

Note: they do sail through the air when tossed and still look favorable in splashed pots. Will discover if stack heights vary enough to complicate buy-ins and cash outs.

Fellas, who does the artwork for the AST tribute set? Looking to change up a few things and order a set.

Does anyone else think the font or text should be brighter? I have some 39mm and 43mm infront of me and I just feel like its not bright enough.
I think the text is supposed to mimic the silver hot stamp. I am not sure they can print a “brighter” silver?

^this

You could increase the font size which would make them stand out more or you could make the text whiter which would increase the contrast with the color. Both would take you further away from the source.

Sorry I haven't been following this closely, can anybody confirm what chips are available to order?

From OP:
Sizes/Molds/Textures:
  • 39mm: cards mold (smooth), diamond mold (smooth), plain mold smooth, plain mold textured
  • 43mm: plain mold smooth, plain mold textured
  • 46mm: plain mold smooth, plain mold textured
  • 50mm: plain mold smooth, plain mold textured
  • 52mm: plain mold smooth, plain mold textured
  • 55mm: plain mold smooth, plain mold textured
Are these also available?
39mm hybrid card mold (smooth)?
43mm hybrid card mold (smooth), plain mold smooth or textured?
43mm card mold (smooth)?

Any other options?

39mm hybrid plain mold are available (I have a sample set I had previously posted but I forget where those photos are). 43mm cards mold smooth is also available. I have a full playable set.

Off the top of my head that is it. 43mm hybrid with mold is under works.

wouldn't it be a good idea to have people posting pictures of their chips with cymk color codes? The color wheels are nice but there is only a very limited number of colors available.

Some folks have, especially from the original GB. Others have been kind enough to share when asked.

Just keep in mind that lighting conditions, camera sensors, photo adjustments, and displays can all impact how they look when you pick colors. We’re also seeing production variation, with the same color coming our darker or lighter within the same chips in the same order.

I built a chip using the codes from colors I liked on previously produced chips. The end result was close, but not as vibrant as I expected. No idea which of the above elements were the reason.

These are mine. The artwork is available if you want it. Keep in mind-original artwork was for 43mm.
Timinator (great dude and artist to work with) helped me clean the files up for production.
If you want the art as is, you are welcome to use it. If you want changes, I suggest to reach out to Tim.
I know he's done a 39mm conversion.

The font was chosen to mimic hotstamp as someone suggested.

Is there a difference in print quality and color depending on if it's a PDF or Adobe Illustrator file? How (as in saving settings/parameters) and what file type are you guys sending Tina? @Eloe2000 @everyone

I recommend sending an EPS or AI file because they are the most adaptable. Theoretically there would be no difference in print quality between a PDF and AI or JPEG assuming everything is perfect. However, if they need to adjust something on their end, which I believe is necessary frequently, you want them to the have the flexibility to do so. If someone doesn’t have the ability to create an AI they probably don’t have a lot of design experience and are more likely to have flaws in their design. I would recommend those people pay a designer to review their artwork. In my experience with the previous cut card group buys, the vast majority of designs submitted by PDFs had flaws and issues which required fixing.

The whole MakeAWish donation, good job. You did a good thing simple enough. I just never saw anything about anyone actually sending all the profits off to a charity.
I paid "the profits" from the auction i won direct to MAW. @Eloe2000 never saw a cent of "the profits" to be able to show anyone anything.

I hope you weren't implying that he kept that excess money. Maybe i was misinterpreting your meaning here, but i just wanted to make that clear.

Every group buy i participated in has been perfect. The people that run them do a service to the members. I don't believe i have seen anyone really profit much if at all from running them.

Hey @Eloe2000, would it be possible to update the OP with the newish chip styles that are available?

Unfortunately not. The original post has “timed out” and I can’t edit it any longer.

What I really meant was asking if these checks/un-checks and settings are prime/correct for an Adobe Illustrator file?

@Eloe2000 a few questions have come up from me running the GB. I think this has been stated but is there a MQO for chips in a GB for each design? With the new 43mm how do they fit in the Chipco racks?

The min order quantity was 25 although they may even be flexible on that. But you can order 25, 27, 101 etc. But not 20 for example.

I still haven’t purchased 43mm racks because I am specifically trying to fit them into a Versa birdcage box. I think I am going to have 3D3P make some racks for me.

First game with the 43s will be next Wednesday. Definitely seems like plenty of spinners.

Even though Tina will allow you to place your order for any number of any denomination, I STRONGLY suggest you require your orders to be in multiples of 25. It will make your packing and inventory so much easier. And as stated, with some spinners everyone should want some extras anyway. At these prices, it's no big deal to round up what you want to the next higher multiple of 25.

She sent extras in my GB, so we still had partial stacks. She rounded up considerably with one set, turning 115 into 125.

If you order 112 $1 and 113 $5, she’ll bundle the 25 into one stack.

Were you going to order via Alibaba or some other group by? Trying to learn when to wait for group buys vs trying to go through Alibaba or something.

43mm cards mold Mangos have landed. Photos shoot to follow. So good. I went with a full size inlay for increased readability for larger events with newbie or unfamiliar players and I was nervous but these are even better than my cash set. Thanks @SeanGecko for doing this and dealing with the hiccups. These are the best yet!

39mm Crds Mold: 39.2mm 9.5gram (barrel height 65.6mm)

43mm Cards Mold: 42.8mm 11.4gram (barrel height 65.6mm)

These look great, what size in mm is the inlay on the 43mm chips. The larger inlay looks really good
