Cards Mold/"Tina" Alibaba Ceramics Master Consolidated Info Thread (4 Viewers)

My 1st contribution to the CMC thread
(card mold ceramic) (yes, I just made that up) (it’s permanent now)

Step one, found Tina….

Ordered March 11th, 2022 - during WW3, hyper inflation, upside down world….

600PCS 43MM ARIA TOURNAMENT SET

$240 for 600 chips
$148 Shipping

$388 Total

$399.61 (plus much deserved tip to PCF artwork creator’s) out the door after 2% China fee, but Apple gave me 2% back so penalties offset haha

I’m impatient, didn’t want to wait for the GB to close out. Happy happy happy

Understood, and good points. I just wanted to see the design, love all the pics I’ve see here. I have about a half dozen ideas rolling around in my head lol. May e someday I will settle on one!

Gotcha, it’s the normal 43mm ARIA. After seeing the pics on here like the one I’m posting (forget who’s pic it is), I absolutely had to have them!

Lol, I feel the same way. Got into the GB’s for 39 and 43. But I understand it will be a while. Lucky you!!! Enjoy

Considering what I just read a few pages back….. I will confirm that I did not use any personal design that’s related to someone’s home game, personal table, name uniqueness/likeness or design that THEY came up with. As for people using a casinos name, a brand name, etc - well that’s just up for debate apparently. I say again, I won’t copy a HOME GAME, but I sure as hell will copy Nike, Walmart, DeWalt, any and all casinos, etc without thinking twice. Unless one of you own DeWalt, Nike…. Or are a Walton heir…. If so, please don’t sue me lol.

That being said, I can still appreciate folks getting designs together to make cool reproduction chips (even if “acquired” themselves), like the ARIA, and I’ll always show my appreciation via a cash tip sent their way. @TX_Golf_N_Poker @Johnny5 can split the $12 coming haha

As for personal designs - I would 1000% ask them first, and respect their efforts for their design.

Which is why I’ll be going through @Himewad for my NUTS set.

And that Casa Mango is pure fire, I might need to get with @Eloe2000 for a future tweak someday making a “Casa Lou” Cuban theme
For me, the point here on PCF is not so much using someone's trademark. It's a set of chips for a home game. I'm not designing chips and selling them commercially all over the world with someone else's trademark on them. So if I see an image I like on the internet - yeah, it belongs to someone, and I probably shouldn't use it without their permission. But I'm not using it to generate a profit. I'm just putting it on a chip for my personal home use. It's a thin line that I may have stepped over. But I can live with myself for having done it.

But with a design that someone here created with their own effort - whether that be something unique like Casa Mango, or a tribute to a casino like the Aria's - I find it morally reprehensible that Tina's company takes the work that @Johnny5 , @timinater , @JeepologyOffroad or @Eloe2000 (and others) did and uses it to sell chips to anyone who will pay. Without asking permission or giving any recognition or compensation to the artist who provided them with that artwork for sole purpose of producing one specific run of chips.

Yes, we now know that Tina will do that. And we still use her and send original artwork to her. That's a choice we have made. But knowing this is why some of us police these threads and try to convince all of you not to do it without getting permission first, or like @louBdub , owning up and contacting us after the fact once they are aware of what they did.

What shape hat? Might be cool without getting into infringement to do like a bowler or a cowboy hat? Cowboy hat & horseshoes mold?

Interesting thought, but would need to be something we could sell 50,000 of. Not sure cowboy hat and horseshoe would do that...

Dare I say it - what about C&S??? No - I can't go there... But I already did.

I’ll throw a friendly tip to anyone who puts in the work to help create or get a copy done. I understand efforts involved. As far as I’m concerned you earned my appreciation, so I show it.

However, I also understand the lack of ownership the moment anyone sends a design to China. I mean, that’s just wishing on a unicorn…. Lol

I also wouldn’t expect anyone to owe me anything, or even ask for permission, I don’t have power over any other man on this earth to demand such things.

I do have power over my own actions, which means I can apply Man Law, chapter 5, specifically stating one must appreciate another man’s hard work, and show gratitude through works.

I owe no man a penny, nor will I ask permission, but I do owe myself my own respect, and I can’t respect myself if I don’t show appreciation to another man’s efforts that helped me.

My two cents.

P.S. I hope this doesn’t come off as a jerk, it’s just my opinion, hopefully it doesn’t offend. Cheers

Pips/suits mold would be generic enough to sell to everyone. Kind of like when Paulson did it with WTHC or Bud Jones. Dice mold would be a fun back to the basics memoir of dice chips lol. And a PAR-A-DICE tribute can be made. Roman mold would be cool, but not sure if they can do that.

If I were to join a public GB, would I still be able to order custom artwork chips? i.e, with the currently open 43mm aria GB, could I order custom artwork with that buy? If so, what steps would I need to take to do that?

Typically the GBs for one design are just that. One design only. This allows the organizer to order a large number of chips and keep the amount of work sorting, packing and shipping reasonable. To confirm, you would just need to ask the organizer, but don't get your hopes up. I have heard rumors that there may be a new GB starting up soon for original art, so pay attention to these threads.

Do you know by chance who I would contact if I wanted to commission some designs for inlays/ things of that nature? Or if there's a list of people and their artwork open to commissions?
