Cards Mold/"Tina" Alibaba Ceramics Master Consolidated Info Thread (15 Viewers)

Thought I'd let you guys know, seems like they're charging $128 USD for the use of the designs. Not sure if any artists here have received a payment from them yet. I haven't placed my order but will probably be going with a custom design anyways.

Who do I compensate for the ARIA'S design? I used their template to make my own design but feel I should still pay whoever created the original.
Sorry, I'm a little slow catching up with all the threads after being out of town. @Johnny5 is the Aria's designer, and for group buys, I collect the fees for him. If you just used his design for inspiration and came up with your own, then I don't think John would expect any compensation. Only if you use his actual artwork (his Adobe Illustrator files) which I assume you don't have access to anyway.

PM me if there is still any question.

I'd be very interested in hearing from anyone who pays this fee, especially for Aria's. I will then track it down to determine if the artist really gets paid.

I believe these were for a 14g clay chip, she suggested them to me and mentioned the Aria design was very popular.
FYI - there is no such thing as a 14g clay chip, or any clay chip that can be custom ordered from China. Since you are brand new, I strongly suggest you hang around and do some research before dropping money on a custom set that you "may" regret down the road.

Sounds like @chinchilha is ordering some plastic chips rather than the ceramics most folks get from Tina. "14g clay" almost always means slugged plastic, and would explain the $0.10/chip cost (vs I think around $0.30/chip for ceramics). The "logo cost" of $128 for 3000 is probably the cost of printing and applying a custom sticker to the plastic slugged chip, rather than an artwork cost to be paid to a designer.

... but this is all speculation on my part.

Edit: Thinking a bit more, I'm probably wrong about the "logo cost". I think usually when ordering plastic chips from suppliers like Tina, the cost of custom printed stickers is included in the base price. So maybe the $128 really is an art fee intended to go to the designer. Again, I don't actually know, and would love it if someone did the legwork to find out for certain.

These are the 14g “clay” chips at $.10 that Tina’s company has on Alibaba:

Curious on the current state of shipping costs. Do you mind sharing number of chips and cost for fast shipping (assuming DHL like mine came)?
Not at all!

$0.32 x 725 chips

+178 for shipping (3 day shipping)

I know I paid crazy price for shipping but I “needed” (wanted) these chips before my next game which is next weekend.

For around .56 cent a chip total, it’s less than I paid for my royals total (also 725 chips). Still love my royals but the endless customization for card molds might put them over the edge.

Thanks for the info.

I paid $0.11/chip for shipping on 3500 chips back in December but not nearly as expedited. I think it was a total of 3 weeks from paid to arrived, can't remember how much of that was shipping (most of it, though... 2ish weeks?).

It was a joke.
Would it be a joke though if there was interest in a new mold? Not necessarily a THC knock off, but just something different than the card mold in general? I personally like the look of the dual recessed ring chips. One around the inlay and one around the outer edge of the chip. Similar to what you see on some Paulson's and CPCs like circle square and horsehead. Someone with more artistic ability than me could hopefully design something to go between those rings that would look aesthetically pleasing, without stealing someone else's design outright. If people liked it enough, 50k chips doesn't seem to out of reach.

There is another.

Just not sure what became of it.

Not at all. I'm one of the people Tina has spoken to about this and I would love to see us come up with a cool new mold. I just don't think this community would support ripping off Paulson and buying/selling/trading ceramic chips with a THC mold. That was the joke part. Sounds like I just misunderstood what part of my comment you were asking about.

personally id love to see a continuous ring mold in the fashion as the pineapple mold, roman mold, ewing mold etc.

SunFly offers the "pattern" mold.
The edges are different than Diamonds & Cards molds too.

See my lot #2 here.

Well, just get you and 49 of your closest friends to all order 1000 chips each with the same mold, and get Tina to whip 'em out!

yeah no disrespect but its a bit meh that "pattern" if we are getting something custom done we can come up with something better surely that a lot of people will like.

edit. just so there is no confusion. i was referring to the mold and not your design.
