Casino Chip Madness (CCM): Best Full Casino Sets of All Time - Nomination Thread (1 Viewer)

Derby Gran casino is also a fantasy set, I'm afraid.
Wow...You're right! Had no idea. There was a card room in California and I just figured this was one of their issues Looks like this is another one where there's a real and a non-casino set. Guess I'll have to strike that from the list. Thanks!

1 ACF number 1 that set is breathtaking.
2 WSOP 2006
3 wsop 2009
4 car hole poker league (sorry i couldnt resist) please disregard no 4

1. Stardust 60s

Get creative:)

The first ones that came to my mind are already posted: ACF and Crystal Park. I had also considered the Motor City:

and the carson Nugget, though the only Nugget I could find a pic of is the $1:

This is the kind of project that needs road-trips to build a decent set of nominees.

Not the top best casino sets of all time necessarily, but here are a few that most people aren't aware of that are pretty damn nice:

Some really great dark horse choices here. Inlay design is my first priority generally (decent spots and colors being necessary, but not sufficient to get my vote) and that Four Queens rack is really barking up the right tree for me.

Remember that nominations that do not include photos will not be counted and those photos must appear in your FIRST list of nominations in this thread. Editing your post to quote the photos posted by others is sufficient.

Recently completed my sample set of these (well, still need the 5k)

1. WSOP Tourney Chips 1988-1990

Would love to have a playable set and it's doable, but would be crazy expensive and take years. I sniped the $1-$1000 and kept it under $100 total for those samples.

Same for me except for the 5 and 25 which are usually the weak spots for me. It's very tough for me to love those demons in standard colors, don't know why.

The quarter I could stand dumping but the $5 has grown on me over the years.

FW is definitely going to be on my list. The $5 is one of the best there is IMO and the $25 is good I'd say (not amazing, but good.) Only bad chip in the lineup is the hundo.

That Foxwoods set is very nice! This is an amazing thread.

Not sure how I don't end up finding a place for this set in my list. Absolutely gorgeous, every single chip.

Friendly reminder - must have photos in any nomination list.

Sets were already nominated, with appropriate pr0nage... I'll attach some additional pictures if I find good ones...

Sorry for the uselessness of my previous post :(

Not useless at all, Paulo.

I had included the requirement in the OP for pr0n because many of the most popular sets have several editions of chips and so to be clear which are nominated, I stated that any nomination post must include photos even if it meant simply quoting the photos previously posted so that it's absolutely clear which sets are being nominated.

It's certainly a pain in the ass and I'm open to removing the hard and fast requirement. I just don't want to get to the tabulation stage and have a hanging chad scenario where two or three sets are competing for one spot and the decision requires a judgment call as to whether a particular set got a sufficient number of nominations.

Not a PITA at all... Just didn't remember details of the OP after a few days... Will quote some of the pics used previously...

Absolutely. For the purposes of this thread/contest, casino = any legitimate gaming establishment.

EDIT: FWIW while those types of sets (super simple name/graphic/denom designs) somehow never make my "best of" lists, they are some of my favorite to see just because they look so classically old school.

ACF cash (2000s):
That little golden plane is just awesome. Never seen a classier inlay. The 2€ / 20€ / 25€ and 100€ chips are sooo nice.

Dragonara (1990s):
For the cool golden dragon inlay, the most beautiful hundo ever, the amazing oversized and blue hologram 500, and the awesome plaques and jetons.

MGM Grand LV (1997-2005 depending on denoms):
For the changing color lion, the sweetest grey chip ever, the lovely pink $10, the blaze orange $20 (any paulson set should have a blaze orange chip, it should be written in the Constitution) and the devilish hundo.

Aviation club tourney 2000s:

Metallic gold 500, blaze orange 10k, classy, shiny… just plain wonderful.

PAULSON HOTSTAMPS

Aladdin tourney:
Simple, classy stamp, best colors ever, literally my four favorites colors from paulson : lime green, charcoal, hawai flower and arc yellow. I love hotstamps with just a bit of lettering.

Aztar tourney:
Perfect combination of stamps and edges.

OLDIES

Horseshoe (1954)
The arrodie mold is amazing, sweet weight and shuffling beyond compare. The $25 chip is even better in person, the grey is greenish, lovely color.

Last Frontier (1948, except the paulson $1 probably)
Another mold, another classic. My favorite inlay ever.

Pink pussy cat
I placed them #11, because I'm not sure if those qualify as a "casino set", the "Pink Pussy Cat" being, as I understand it, a bar that might have held a poker table (did it?). I also read that those chips were used as beverage coupons. If they qualify, they'll be in my 10 list instead of the Aztars.

They didn't make to the final 10 because life is so unfair:
Tropicana 1st edition
WSOP current secondaries
Stardust 1960s
Vineyards
Condado Beach

Some images are mine and free to use, others I got from all around the web during the last years, can't remember who they belong to, but of course feel free to let me know if it's yours and want it deleted. You'll recognize those taken from The Chip Guide.
