CCM Finals: Mapes v. Aviation Club (tournament) (2 Viewers)

This came down to would I rather own a fantastic tournament set with great colors, spot patterns, and inlay, or a great historic TRK cash set with great colors and a great inlay. The answer is yes.

ACF is "historic" as well, the place opened in 1907!
I didn't know the history of the Mapes casino, I just discovered it was such a well-known place. Those two sets are wonderful and from awesome gaming rooms, that's great!
I'll go with ACF but Mapes will deserve their victory

had to go with Aviation Club. As nice as the Mapes are, the colors and logo of the ACs are just too much for me and it outweighed the Mapes. Both great epic sets!

Damn, the Aviation Clubs are doing a lot better than I thought they would. I figured Mapes would have it by nearly 4:1.

ACFs have 2 to 3 colors per chip, Mapes have 4 to 5.. it's just simple math, the winner is Mapes (y) :thumbsup:

OK, ok, both great sets... though the ACF set doesn't do much for me.. Until you hit the 5k and up...
ACF 5 - 1000 kinda look like a Paulson Home Market set to me (no better looking than WTHC, Pharaohs, Noir/NPS).
But the ACF 5k, 10k, 25k, are a different story.. great color combos.

I'm a sucker for bright colors and relatively simple spot patterns. Obvious choice is obvious.

Not that they surprise anyone, but the Mapes took it home. I wonder how much it had to do with the sales that have occurred in the last year, but the Mapes have always been super popular, so maybe they'd have taken it even without the help.

Still shocked the Dunes didn't make it farther.

I missed the final vote (late thread + short term memory = missed thread). It wouldn't have mattered in a 2:1 victory, but both sets are really nice, so luckily I never had to decide.
