Likewise: "All c*nts feel great".All poker chips feel great.
Could even be a single-verse poem.

I’ve got one of those in my singles display. It’s been sitting on the pirate ship side so long, I forgot about the parrot. Just flipped it over. Thanks!Back when I worked at TI, I used to go through rack after rack searching for the “old” Treasure Island design chips. I loved that pirate ship on one side and parrot on the other.
lol....I was the same clone, but since recently adjusting to retirement the $5 bet is a given nowIt takes me longer to decide whether to call a $5 bet than it does to decide whether to buy $500 of chips.
Watch yourself, young man, or Granny'll wash your mouth out with soap. Here are two of mine - I (thankfully) don't get the TRK hype. Especially the chips with the old lady (Jessie Becks?) <shudder>
Don't start now!Since joining PCF almost three years ago, I have over 9400 posts. That’s nearly 9 per day. I am #15 on the all-time posts list.
And I have contributed almost nothing of value.
I’m sort of with you. Except I like poker with strangers. Other than that and a good buffet, I have no interest in anything going on in casinos.I don’t really like to gamble. I like playing poker with my friends and play fantasy football with my friends, but going to the casino to play cards with a bunch of strangers isn’t very fun for me. Don’t really like much about the casino.
I think the current trends are created out of necessity, not desire. It takes an inordinate amount of time & money to work towards anything else, and not all chippers have those resources in excess. They just want some cool, unique chips that scratch their collecting itch while also serving an occasional Tuesday night purpose. RHCs, relabels, ceramics all serve that purpose beautifully.I don't like the majority of the current trends (RHC love, milling, relabeling, fantasy chips, hybrid ceramics, etc.) and it's turned me into an angry old man yelling at clouds.
A side effect of not liking the current trends is that it makes me feel less a part of the community and I find myself posting dismissively, negatively or not at all.
I've been trying to contribute more and be more positive, but I definitely need to remind myself before I hit the post button.
I have the same thought about the gigantic chipsets. I think they're ridiculous. I wonder how much TCR's "2,000 chips maximum" (and percentages designed to force you into it) have contributed to that. But mostly I think it's a competitive, showy offy thing. And f you pay attention, you'll very often see that the guy who posted pics of his 35 racks is often selling off racks shortly thereafter.I love chips and poker. But not obsessed about chips as many folks on here.
I tend to view everything with cost/benefit viewpoint and from a practical sense of 'will I actually use it if I buy it'.
I don't really understand the appeal of:
1) Collecting singles. I can kind of see the appeal of historic casinos in vegas. But a sample set from some irrelevant casino from Ohio or Kansas? What's the point?
2) Gigantic chipsets. I see people buy sets of +3000 chips and they only host 1 or 2 table games. What's the point? Just to look at? You're never going to actually handle and use all 3000 chips. You're never actually really ever going to even look at all of them as they're racked in the back of a cabinet behind the 20,000 other chips you never ever look at.
Poker chips are meant to be used. Not hoarded in your closet never to see felt.
Yea I've noticed that a bit. Just because were new to here doesn't mean we don't have hoards of some of the most valuable chips in the price book. Here's a hot take from a newb .... veterans chippers become much more friendly in DM once you have what they want.
THICC chips!
Are you attempting to understand their mindset or are you attempting to make them question what they love to do the most? I am hoping that you are only trying to understand them.I have the same thought about the gigantic chipsets. I think they're ridiculous. A little bit of both. There's a significant showing off, one-upsmanship aspect to this hobby and I think it's healthy to question or discuss that. Are you attempting to understand their mindset or are you attempting to make them question what they love to do the most? On the one-up people on here, I completely agree.A little bit of both. There's a significant showing off, one-upsmanship aspect to this hobby and I think it's healthy to question or discuss that.
