I've noticed some fairly successful color matches with CPC chips. Most appear to look a tad lighter than the chip (perhaps pre oiled). I'm attempting to design an inlay for a custom CPC set but I'm stumped at the background. Should I do any of the following?

  • go full #000000 black
  • color match it to my black chip
  • go a tad darker than my black chip
  • find a pattern for the background
  • try something more grey like Bellagio or Aria chips
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Perfect, permanent color matching from chip base to inlay background isn't possible for various reasons. That's one of the reasons why many folks go with a gradient in a color-matched background in the inlay, and many others avoid a color-matched background all-together.

The WSOP secondaries are a good example. The inlays start pretty color-matched, but they quickly end up a shade or three off.

I did have a color match to gradient background but felt that I'd like the the colored hotel to shine a bit more so I'm leaning towards a more dark background. Any examples of CPC with a black or solid grey background?

Nice. Do you know if the designer used the blackest black #000000 or was it something a little lighter. I'm guessing a P5woody design?
