Tangiers and the Quest for a Tina Hybrid Faux Inlay (3 Viewers)

Also just get a blank and let @Josh Kifer stamp them!
Only concern would be the mold indentations with a non-stickered chip

Never realize the mold injections were underneath the inlay!!!

This Tangiers mold is going to be straight fire bro. I know we give a lot of feedback, criticism and suggestions, but it’s truly already a homerun.

Is there a way to position ejector marks AND the injection point beneath the label? Removing the injection points from the edge of the chip would have great visual benefits.

Nice.. color samples arrived today.

Not nice.. this is going to be painful.. lol. Having to pull out all my past sets I've made to dig for some matches (e.g. Blue).

Hoping to get the "targets" out this week to get a web mold sample expedited.

Edit: this likely is going to need some color forecasting work, plotting expected vs actuals for some colors, but tweaking off the closest matches I can find.

Always impressed how Tina is able to line up the labels with the chips so well, wonder how it’s done.

I don't think anybody envies you having to do this job. I mean this color matching project is the very definition of "taking one for the team" in my mind. And if you are able to eventually make any perfect color matches that will be truly invaluable info for the entire community going forward. So thank you in advance for even taking a crack at this!

Cratty for president!!

thank you for doing this

Hmm. Interesting to look at.. lets hope these "matches" come out OK.

And yes, these look like I'm an idiot, I may be..

Edit: to be clear, house mold still in progress. Final colors as printed will look very different than these for most (and instead should be very close to previous mockups). This is just to show a bit of the process and what I'm sending in vs what will ultimately come out.. and how much I'm trusting everything will be OK. lol

I’m still liking last designs. Just my opinion
Only difference is the 1 inlay shape.. everything is the same as the prior, just in print-ready colors, that should actualize to the prior mockup colors.. if I get everything right.

Just showing the making of the sausage with this photo.. not intended to be pretty.

Didn’t see the house mold so wasn’t sure
Yeah, the house mold is still in process and will be used (after first sample run on web). I didn't show it on these because the overlay also adds a hybrid pattern on the chip, which can make the mockups look lighter (fine before, but didn't want to do it on these since I wanted to show the exact colors going to print.

Truly doing the Lord’s work

I didn’t even think about the discrepancies between requested and printed

I see exactly what you are talking about because on some of these mockups the colors seem to match perfectly between chip vs. inlay (e.g. $5, $1,000, and $100,000). Whereas on most of the others there does look to be a very subtle discrepancy between chip color vs. inlay color. But of course we cannot see what all of those color sample chips showed you in terms of color matches.... and therein lies the entire quandary! Heck, even our computer monitors probably all have different display settings, and so each person probably sees these colors ever so slightly differently from everyone else. I dabble with graphic design a teeny tiny bit on occasion, but never professionally... so this part of the process has always been fascinating to me. Thanks for giving us this glimpse into it!

Oh also, I freaking love the way that new inlay shape on the $1.00 looks! Bringing in the shape from the "brass core" Tangiers chips was a stroke of genius. LOL

Wow crazy to see the difference with the provided chip & provided inlay to be able to get a matched color! Love this!
What's next @Cratty? Sample run?

When people ask me about colour matching and I say getting close is relatively easy, but exact is extremely hard - this is what I mean.

It is painstaking and involves a lot of trial and error. It's doable, just takes time. Godspeed!

Any dirty stack issues with $100-$500-$5K?
I've been trying to separate spot colors/shades some more to differentiate (the print version above is not the best representative sample to go off of though, as some colors come in darker, some come in lighter in reality), but want to play with exact chips before I adjust. Agree there's a potential concern there.

Looks great!!

Would love to see a bearclaw for the 5k, but i‘m more interested in the lower denoms.
Will they be available in 43mm?

Yeah, I just have a hard time seeing the bearclaws go cohesively with the other edgespots in the set, but do love them too, but not opposed to an alt for those that want it.

And 39mm only for the house mold.
