Taking someone else’s artwork and making chips is not cool. At all.
Couple that with the fact that the artwork is owned by a very well respected vendor here on PCF, and you’ll find you won’t get much appreciation here for these chips.

By saying "made these myself" i mean i found company in china who already had this design. i did not copy artwork, i just ask them to put euro sign on denominations. im not sure if that company asked for permission. i understand its bad for people who made this artwork, but im not trying to sell them, its only one set for my own use. please forgive me if i offended somebody. i fell realy bad right now.

Yeah, this sucks for abc/brpro. More annoying, these dios are offered by the same company that many from pcf has been buying a bazillion chips from. Just saying.

Are you serious? That should be grounds for instant boycott! This is what I hate about the race to the bottom when it comes to price.

Yes, even the exact same picture as in this thread. I'll pm you the Link as I don't want to post it here.

We all know what goes first when it comes to price though. Those Chinese knock-offs will probably end up breaking before too long.

I'm not saying ABC chips are invincible but they are one of my favorite chip companies for a good reason. Their chips have a decided improvement in quality over most other brands.

Also I am 99% sure they have a Euro sign to use. You may want to ask Gene and Kristil.

Not surprised that China had it. Curious how they got it... Did they steal the image from BR? Is the Alibaba vendor BR’s supplier? Did someone else order them? Something else? Curious.

(edit: corrected vendor)

Yeah, a lawsuit won't work. But a good start and a proper response would be to not buy any more chips from this or a similar vendor with no respect for copyrights.
That’s China’s MO. It’s also the MO of Amazon, BTW. Americans love cheap stuff.

Yeah, i get that. We like cheap prices in Sweden too. That said, this is a small community. Most people seem to like the two ceramic vendors that (apart from playing a fair game) actually support this site, why not use either of them?

I'm 99% sure Gene and Krystal will ship a set to the EU if you have the scratch for it.

OTOH, copycatting someone else's work is highly frowned upon here. I mean that's just kinda a douche move.
Hell yes they will! Kristil was great and these chips are amazing.

I’m with you. And I suspect most folks are, up to a point. I read somewhere that there’s an acceptable rounding point at which cost increases don’t matter much (I think it was something like when buying something in the hundreds, cost differences less than 10 are acceptable; thousands/less than 100.)

But when looking at $300 Alibaba or $600 BR for 1,000 ceramic chips- it’s easy to understand the decision made.

BR’s in a tough spot.

Might as well boycott all of China. I'm not disagreeing with you and I'm not comfortable with my cynicism, but this is what China does. Screw them, by the way.

@marekzh, may of us feel strongly about this and we will call it out when we see it. I believe you when you say you feel bad about it, and now I feel bad for you. Two hours ago you were thrilled with your chips, and now you feel bad about them THAT STINKS. Don't take it personally; you just made a mistake, apparently. But there are people who do this who aren't making mistakes. I remember one guy who was selling Chinese ceramic knockoffs of Aria cash chips - that guy knew exactly what he was doing and he just didn't care. People like him, and the entire nation of China, are the targets of my ire. IRE!

... and I'm not comfortable with my cynicism...

Embrace it, embrace that cynicism!

Here's a couple thoughts:
The Chinese vendor mentioned is well aware of this site.
The popularity of the DDLMs is seen in many threads [look down at the "similar threads" window].
marekzch joined Dec 27th & has only four posts, all in this thread, and the only pics of his chips are on the factory table.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if marekzh is an agent of the Chinese vendor trying to ramp up sales of knock-offs in the EU

I don't lump in all Chinese people, or Chinese companies, in the same bin of disdain. I don't blame ordinary people for the actions of their government, either. The vast majority of people and their companies provide reasonable products and services. I choose not to deal with those that don't.

Rip off products sell because there is a market for them. If you don't feed and promote that market, then maybe the legit competition can survive.

Oh crap, I hope that didn't sound racist. It wasn't intended that way. At least I don't think so. My understanding is that the Chinese government allows and enables this sort of knockoff/ripoff. Whether ignoring other nations' intellectual property laws is strictly a legal quirk of the Chinese government or whether it's a deeper cultural issue - I have no idea. But I think it's unjust, and it should be dealt with through boycotts or tariffs or embargos or treaties or whatever - I don't know; that's WAY above my pay grade. And if the Chinese people or "good" Chinese companies were to suffer because of that, that's unfortunate, and their government should answer to them for it.
