Ok, so I already know that there's a love hate relationship with Kardwell... I even had to call them yesterday about my first issue with a different order than the one I'll discuss in this post. If you don't want anything to do with them, stop reading this post. ;)

I was browsing Kardwell's selection of plastic cards on January 10th, and when I got to the very last page (pg. 6) I saw a deck that I wasn't familiar with. Chips and Games labelled Da Vinci cards. They come in what I guess I would describe as teal and reddish colored backs. Poker size only (sorry bridge size lovers), jumbo index, which I prefer. Here's the kicker... they were listed as being $1 a deck. I wondered if this was a mistake, or maybe they're just really shitty, flimsy, slick cards like Royals. I loaded 20 decks into my cart, 10 of each color, and when I went to see how much shipping was, I saw it had listed what was called "Dollar Deck Free Shipping." I figured "what the hell, it's only 20 bucks to take a flier on it," so I purchased them.

It took almost a month before the status changed to shipped, and during that time I figured maybe they were going to cancel it due to a pricing error or something, but I got a package in the mail today...

I opened a deck, and I have to say, they feel... not too bad! Definitely worth more than the dollar a piece that I spent. A cut card is also in each box.

They are still listed for a buck a deck online, so it must just be something they're clearing out. I looked on another website and double decks were priced at $9.99 a setup, marked down to $6.99. Thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else is interested.

I've handled these. No way in hell are these DaVinci/Modiano stock. Advertising trick to buy their crappy cards made in China.

I'm not going to say they're anywhere close to being my favorite, but they're exponentially better than anything I have with a 3 or 4 X price point. At a dollar a deck with no sales tax or shipping cost, I might just buy another 20 and give them away on poker nights.

I recently played with these cards with @Pippa. They are ok, ummm I guess great actually at $1 per setup. They did seem to keep a little bend to them as we played, but felt and handled nice. Too bad Kardwell no longer had them for sale.
