REPORTED
I'll hold judgement here until I get more thorough reporting from podcast journalist BKActual. He covers unique testicular accidents more thoroughly than any other journalist out there, and in my experience this story sounds like someone was into something naughty. It's kinda like those guys that show up in the ER with items stuck up their body holes and have odd excuses for how the wire or battery “got in there”. We all know what happened buddy.
Would be easy for hotel to place the suggestion that the scorpion entered the premises within or on the customer's own luggage, and that it would be unreasonable to implement intrusive scorpion check searches of every customer.^^^ This!
I've lived in an environment with scorpions for nearly 40 years now and have never been tagged. They are elusive little critters that are usually perfectly happy tucked under a rock or in some tree bark (hence the name, "bark scorpion"). My Mom got tagged once, but that was while doing yard work after picking up a rock (the rock the scorpion was hiding under).
I have a hard time believing one would: 1) wind up in a Vegas mega-resort with pest control. 2) under the covers while the guy is sleeping. We move too much while we sleep for a person in bed to be a place a scorp would seek out. 3) Decide to tag the guys nards before his hand, foot, leg or easier to access anatomy.
As soon as the resort's council hires an entomologist, this gets dismissed ASAP.
Normally when someone gets “stung” in Las Vegas it involves them losing money
