Cash Game Do I need a limit set? (2 Viewers)

Does ANYBODY use two in-play denominations for Limit games? A workhorse and a helper? $1 and $5? 25c and $1?
Yes, we've done exactly that, quarter ante, 50c small bet $1 big bet with quarters and $1s. Totally fine, you're just on a website that's obsessed with the chips, no one else is going to care.

Related question, I'm sure has been asked a hundred times:

I've been reading here long enough to know just about all the limit players agree that workhorse plus 20x for value is the way to go. But is there a significant minority anywhere? Just wondering. Cause I like variety and using different chips.

I get the rule that you never want to see one-chip bets, and lots of chips are better. But what about, say, 4x 1$ chips to make the small bet, and then a $5 plus 3x $1 to make the large bet? 4 chips both ways. Or, similarly, 3x 25c to make a small bet of 75c, and $1 plus 2x 25c to make a $1.5 big bet 3 chips in the pot either way. (Smaller stakes for teaching games.)

I guess I'm curious to know how small a minority I'd be in if I made a habit of playing fixed-limit with helper chips like that. A 20% minority? Or more like 2%?
No. Think about it this way - they have fixed limit tournaments. Do you think they get out a new chipset every time the blinds go up? Nope. They use big bet denoms and it works fine.
For limit cash games, I use a single denomination chip with a high value store chip (typically 20x).

For limit tournaments, I use a mix of denominations (usually just three), and the initial distribution consists of more chips per denomination than typically found in a no-limit stack. 20/20/15 seems to work fine.

But running a limit tournament with 8/8/4/7 stacks is a change-making nightmare. Similarly, using multiple chip values for cash isn't much fun, either.

Yep. We play 1/2 Stud8 with quarters, dollars, and fives. I've built my set heavy on quarters and dollars for just that reason.

Works just fine.

Thanks.

You have a regular group that plays nothing but Limit Stud8?

That's impressive!
