Not Mine eBay SELLER WARNING - wickatacki (2 Viewers)

I can only guess the tinfoil is to keep the chips in the racks. I can't believe anyone would think the chips are protected by it, except against body thetans.

Considering the cost of replacing broken/missing chips (plus reshipping costs), using chip boxes and bubble wrap is even cheaper and more effective.

True...but I run out of chip boxes. Saran and bubble wrap has to do.

I think of it as liberating 300 real Vineyards and 75 BCC Vineyards back into the community. I did pickup the 25 mint $20's he had on eBay for $5.40 a chip which is a steal compared to the $10 a chip they go for now. I tried to get the other BCC chips but he said he sold the others to me to low to make up for the original debacle..... Fwiw I offered $1.50 a chip for them.

Saran wrap is cheaper and a helluvalot more effective.

Only when done correctly. ANY rack of chips packaged in a box, needs to be immobilized and unable to slide/bang around the inside of the box. It's sure to bang into other hard objects and cause breakage and damage.

Also, NOT a fan of shipping inside of chip racks, as it offers no protection to the top part of the rack. AND, if the racks are NOT the proper size, it allows them to tilt side to side inside the racks. Any movement of the chips has the potential to cause damage. These are clay people, NOT plastic!

I recently dealt with receiving minty Paulson chips saran wrapped inside of 68+mm cheap racks, which were then allowed to float freely inside a totally unsupported/unreinforced box. The box arrived shredded, and the racks were all obliterated (from hitting the clay chips in the racks below them), chips had escaped and were floating around loose inside the box, and when sorting through the chips, there were decent amounts of clay "dust" and matching colored flecks of clay on my table afterwards.

:( Public service announcement, don't do this (please) ^^^

I am glad I found this thread. He has two racks of $25 Casino Miamis for sale. Thank goodness I low-balled him and he rejected offer. Will avoid him now.

If no chip boxes, I use empty paper towel or yes, toilet paper rolls with the ends cut to appropriate size and folded / taped over. Then I place the rolls in a box filled with shipping peanuts or shredded paper. I think I shipped my mint PCA set this way all the way to France and they arrived safely.

Your PCA $1 primaries made it to me in MA just fine in their toilet paper rolls. Lol...

good to know.. I had been contemplating the Miami $25s a while back, but decided against them.. sounds like it was for the better.

One barrel at a time, then packing taped to the moon between two pieces of cardboard, then inserted into a bubble envelope.. the only way.

I had chips arrive in a SFRB once loose, with one end opened enough that chips were falling out!!:eek:

Definitely involve eBay's problem resolution department. If you file a claim (as a buyer), it's almost guaranteed that you will receive satisfaction. There are covert ways to recoup the return shipping costs.

...that. I made a return for $5,000 on eBay and the seller made a huge fuss but because it was under the allowable return policy, got back every penny. Also, always make purchases when checking out via a card that has purchase protection. See what cards you have and search for purchase protection for it to see what the coverages are. Comes in very handy. Caveat with shipped items, you can’t claim damages that are damaged in the hands of a courier. You just have to say they were damaged later. This of course assuming eBay doesn’t solve it for you, and they probably will.
