Holy shit!

Not joking about the price of these having just gone up even more!

Private Wynn party cancer charity event attended by Beyonce, Heidi Klum, and Steven fucking Colbert! Steven Colbert!!! (and Donald Trump lmao...)

Doesn't get any more epic than these. Greatest set ever now IMO.

Fuck...now I have to buy a raffle ticket

Why do either of you care?

I don't care what the answer to the question itself is. I'm just trying to understand why people are so adamant about wanting to disagree with me about seemingly anything and everything that they are willing to abandon their reasoning skills to maintain these completely illogical viewpoints.

These chips were, without question, written off as an expense on the Wynn Casino Las Vegas tax returns the year in which they were commissioned. Disagreeing with that statement is simply being stubborn. I'm just trying to get people to realize this themselves, and not resorting to name calling. Because I like the people who are disagreeing with me :)

Edit: I like your suggestion though. I think I'm just going to drop this one. You guys can continue to disagree with me if you'd like.

I don't think it's being stubborn, just an acknowledgement that we don't know how Steve Wynn structures his charitable contributions. This very well could have been a personal expense vs. a corporate one. When it comes down to it, we'll never know. And we can't confirm one way or the other. But you can say with 100% confidence, that these were custom ordered by Steve & Elaine Wynn for a private event.

That is without doubt.

Whether or not this was a corporate or personal purchase has no reflection on the resale value (at least in my opinion). The chips say Wynn, we know they were used for a Wynn sponsored event... so who gives a f*ck who's tax returns they appear on???? :P

Just enjoy those damn chippies!!

My emphasis added.

I have no idea how you can reach this conclusion. But we get it. You are really excited to have them.

Pretty nice chips made by Paulson. Not what I would pay for them just because "celebrities" played with them. I think they are nice, do not get me wrong, just not over $4 per chip nice.
My personal preference is "Las Vegas Casino Used" chips but that might just be me. I saw these at that price and went "meh".

No way can these every be as nice as a mint set of Dunes IMO. Great thing is, we are in America where we can all have our own opinion.(for now)

By the way if anyone likes the celebrity thing (They are just people) I have a bunch memorabilia I can sell you!

Congrats on the chips!

Why would you think it's unlikely to be on the corporate return?

Ah, you might be right. The referenced article specifically mentions Wynn Las Vegas as an event sponsor (not Elaine or Steve Wynn, although they served as Honorary Chairs), and states that there were two rooms of black jack, roulette and craps tables flown in from Wynn Las Vegas, and that 26 Wynn staff members were present. Sounds like Wynn Las Vegas purchased the chips specifically for this event which they sponsored.

I still maintain that they were purchased (likely by Wynn Las Vegas) specifically for private use, and are not casino chips. Not that it matters for any reasons other than accuracy.

Ya, this is why I was so confused about the debate. I guess I just assumed the others had read this article as well.

I will concede that they are not "casino chips" though.

Outstanding research by @justsomedude ! Clearly not from the Wynn Casino, but made for Steve Wynn for a charitable event attended by some celebrities (who may or may not have played with them).

As for the tax return debate, it's not that you claimed that a buisness wrote these off, it's that you claimed they were from a Las Vegas casino.

They are clearly from a Las Vegas Casino. I can sure as shit guarantee you The Wynn's tax returns from their production year would also agree with me.

And believe me, whenever I see you "sure as shit guarentee" anything to anybody in the future, I'll be sure to link to this thread to let them know your guarantees and reality are

OK, I won't be a douche...

The chips are 100% from the The Associates Committee of The Society of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, “A Wynning Hand” gambling party on May 25, 2006 in NYC.

Using those links I tracked down more photos from Getty Images and discovered the photographer for the event was Bennett Raglin. Searching for all Bennett Raglin photos, I found this gallery...

In that gallery we have the CONFIRMATION!

Private party chippies! Definitely one of a kind... COOL!

ENJOY!!!!!!!
If there's 3000 chips per craps table and two rooms of tables, how many chips are out there somewhere waiting to be found???? And how do we get them...

the chips are worthless without a "Wynning Hand" table to go with it. (y)

An intrepid chip collector might consider contacting the sponsor of the event. Left over "loot" often gets passed around or even stored in the back room somewhere someplace. I got my 2,500 dice chips that way . . . . no kidding.

Maybe the table felts too?

Also, How much to get on the guest list the next time Steve Wynn throws a "Fun Nite" fundraiser? $1000 a plate is small potatoes if I can walk out with buttloads of free chips.

Don't think I wouldn't do it either. I attend an annual fundraiser for Big Brothers, and walk out with as many wine glasses as I can carry (They don't want them, we asked).

Makes complete sense, that's exactly what he was saying and you would be wise to warn everybody of Trails disingenuous ways... I would also assume that whenever you give your opinion on anything poker chip related people should link to your posts where you said you were leaning towards "knock off, relabeled home market chips" right? Or is that something only a petulant child would do, or more accurately, threaten... Thanks for keeping everybody safe Zombie, you're a saint!!

lol

Unnnnnnfucking real the grade school mentality of some people on here.

Chip on everybody!! :D

Ugg... These ARE from a Las Vegas Casino lol. We just established that. We knew all along that they were never used INSIDE the Wynn, that was never up for debate. We were debating whether or not they were made for the Wynn Casino, for the Wynn family as some sort of private set, or if they were some counterfeit set of sorts.

I said they were without question for the Wynn Casino based on several data points, which is why I made the tax return statement. I was right. Why is this so difficult to admit? I really don't get it... Lol

And no! They were NOT made for Steve Wynn. The were made for the Wynn Casino!!!

Arrrrggggghhhhh

I just think the rub is stating "They are from a Vegas Casino" when they were never used in the Casino. That statement implies they are from Vegas. It can be misleading to a future buyer, unless of course they come upon this thread in the future. Nice chips from the Wynn but never used in and actual Vegas Casino. I think we can all agree to that!

THEY WERE MADE FOR THE GOD DAMN WYNN CASINO FOR A CHARITY EVENT!!!

If you want to say they were "made for the Wynn Casino," I think you need to qualify it by saying, "they were made as a promotional tool for the Wynn Casino."

There's a difference between, "chips made for PLAY in a casino," and, "fun night chips made as part of a marketing/charity effort at the behest of the Wynn Casino."

Two very different things.

And, honestly, I don't think ANYONE here is trying to troll you, they just want to make sure these chips are properly categorized for future resale, so as not to mislead potential buyers. These chips were recently sold and resold under the premise that they were prototype or possible tournament chips. If it had been known that they were promotional chips used at a charity event, it could have drastically altered the resale value, for better or worse. I think that's all everyone is trying to get across here.

No one disputes the fact that they were ordered BY some one sitting in an office AT the Wynn Casino.
