Do many people use 4 colored decks? I was introduced to them probably 30 years ago and thought,"what a great idea" but since then I've never seen them in a home game or casino. I used as an option when playing online.

I have a set up. I like them, but I don't often put them in play. Mostly I use them when I'm playing with the kids. When I suggest bringing them out for my home games at least one person seems irrationally afraid of them and we go for a "normal" deck.

I think that guy plays at my game too!

It seems people like them more for Omaha vs. Hold'em but I'm not sure why.

I own a gorgeous desjgn 4-color setup that’s never been played. I’m afraid if I put them on the table, my players will run out the door and never come back. Also I’m not sure if I like them or if I hate them.
But I do like them online for Omaha.

Depends on the lighting, and on the deck. I played with one once where it was really difficult to make out the cards from more than 3 feet away. But then I'm old, and my eyes aren't what they used to be. YMMV.

I really like using them because it helps to quickly identify suits and my vision isn't the best. It's really great for online where I don't have to handle my cards but Copags and Faded Spades aren't my favorites so I don't really play with them live. I might have to give Desjgn a try because I would really like to use a four color deck.

My players hate them. Absolute apes, I can't get them to use a cut card and now I've gotta convince them the diamonds are blue?? Just stop right there. One of them killed their sensei in a duel and never said why, huge red flag for trying to change their poker habits.

I introduced 4 pip cards years ago to one game....it was a debate all night. Four colours would have resulted in chaos... especially if there were two tables in play and one played normal decks.....I know its irrational but I can hear the arguements over than now.

Go all or nothing for each table at least.

1. timing...you play more hands online
2. on screen colors are clearer than on table

1. So you have more time to be less confused between black/red in live play, even if you're far away distance-wise.

2. Red is red and black is black - zero hue difference between hearts/diamonds and spades/clubs is somehow better.

This seems to be the most common preference by far. But why?
When multitabling online it really helps when you have to make decisions quickly, but live it just looks weird to me. Maybe I could get used to it but I don’t see any upsides. I never have any issue telling the suits apart.

Added bonus is being able to identify the suits when I play on smaller windows when multi-tabling.

beat me to the punch

There seem to be plenty of fans for Faded Spade, Desjgn, and yes even Copag for feel.
Not really a big fan of Faded Spade or Copag. I actually just bought some four color Desjgn to try them out!

I think online players are often more distracted than live, often due to multitabling. For me, it’s just easier to tell at a glance if a board is flushing, with a four color deck.

Absolutely love 4 color decks, as well as 4 pip. Both together is awesome. Like some variety every now and then and 4 color decks also make the rare instance someone misreads cards simply nonexistent. No downside to using them. Love it.

yeah but on the screen green or blue is green / blue but on the table depending on lighting it may start being confusing

We tried once at our home game and most of us didn't like them, except for PLO. Now we strictly use four-colors for PLO. Makes it easier to see all the combinations of possible hands for our newer players.

I thought I would hate them, but quickly grew to like them. But it's hard to get a group to accept them.

I am about to order some 4color FS 3.0 to bring them into play on my Limit Mixed Games. I think that they will be great when it comes to see quickly what’s going on on the flush side of the board, especially in double board games. But in the end I really don’t care a lot if this might confuse some players. I like the idea to try somethin different and the make new experiences …
