Sooooo.... I am a Marketing Manager at a Casino and last week I was walking by the Cage when the lady behind our counter waved me over. I veered over and she said "Can you help? This gentleman has a question." I obliged and replied "I will if I can" The fella opens his hand and he says "I have this poker chip and would like to know if you know what it's worth?" Lo and behold, laying right there in his hand was a Red Dice chip with the writing of '200' on it from a permanent black marker. I glanced at the chip and then I glanced at his eyes wondering if he was serious.... I could tell by the look in his eyes that he seriously thought he might have something. The only thing I could think of to say was... "Its worth two...maybe three cents" The man appeared let down. I told him they are just a plastic chip that's sold everywhere and that there was millions of them out there. I don't think he believed me at first but he kinda shrugged his shoulders and went back about his business dumbfounded by his 'bad luck'. I probably should have told him that the Casino down the road would certainly give him "Face Value" :cool

What you should have said...

Correct response is,

"The base chip itself is only worth a few cents, if in pristine unaltered condition."

"However, it's worth something else, to whoever altered it by adding that denomination -- find who issued it and ask your question. it is --or perhaps only was at one point-- worth 200 of something, perhaps pennies, dollars, theoretical tournament no-cash-value units, peanuts, or some other pre-established 'value'. There is no way to tell by just looking at it."

"But it has no value here, or to me personally."

This makes me feel like I REALLY need to step my game up. Note taken!
