I haven’t, but am scheduled to have one done within the next few weeks
I’m on the fence about it. I want the new Scotty Cameron Phantom X7, but in my mind, I should get a fitting for it first.

One of the guys in the golf shop says, “I can write a dissertation on choosing a putter, but it all comes down to getting what feels right.”

I semi believe that, but also believe adjustments can be made to help you get aligned better or feel more comfortable standing over the ball.

I’m no expert but it comes down to whether you’re very mechanical with the putter or you’re more feel and touch with the putter I would imagine.

Be the ball.

Has anyone ever had a putter fitting? Is it worth it?
I saw a video years ago and did my own fitting.

Step 1

Stand in front of a wall. Do your putting stroke.

If your putter goes straight back and through remaining parallel to the wall then you need a face balanced putter (e.g. a mallet)

If your putting stroke has a slight arc then you need a heel / toe balanced putter (the putter face sits at a 45 degree angle when balanced on your fingers)

If your putting stroke is a big arc then you need a toe heavy putter (the toe pints down when you balance the putter on your fingers)

Step 2

Stand up straight with your hands by your side with your putter next to you. Cut your putter to the length where your finger tips touches the putter (i.e. fingertips to floor - this will give you a fairly short putter but it works)

I did this years ago and it made a great difference to my game. I was using a mallet and changed to a toe heavy putter. I also cut 2 inches off the handle.

I had one done years ago on a SeeMore. Didn't really notice any difference, and I'm currently putting the best I ever have with a $60 stick. YMMV, however.

Now THAT'S how a U.S. Open should be!

Absolutely delighted for Bryson; such a raw talent and one of the game's greatest ambassadors.

For Rory, I'd go as far as saying that result was as significant as some of his wins. If he gets it over the line today, I think the Major floodgates open for him again. I just don't see him bouncing back from that for a long, long time.

That bunker shot :wow:

Such a psychotic night in league last night. First big bird in quite a while - course was firm and the wind was howling, had 125 in and hit it to 12 feet. Then a combo of bad swings and a couple bad bounces (fairway sprinkler head bounced 90* right straight into the water...hit the stick and ricocheted off the green into a bunker...lol). Felt like I needed a shower and a cigarette after this round. Oof.

Yup. I won’t go into it as this thread will end up being moved to the politics thread…
How much is the green fee to play there as a member's guest, out of interest?

I'm currently in the process of scoping out an Ayrshire golf holiday for next year...
