Guns you own (2 Viewers)

I'd recommend a robocop suit for ultimate protection.

I'd also recommend some turret mounted rifles that shoot anything that moves near your property. Can't be too careful.

And whilst you are at it get a couple grenades and rocket launchers too  :ROFLMAO:

I’m sorry, I thought this thread is for people that own guns, not gimpy Aussies  :ROFLMAO:

Where is the Aussie? I'm just part of the second wave English recon team, using migration tactics to gain a foothold in Australia, and other key nations, for our planned re-establishment of the empire.

I would HIGHLY recommend an AR. Do some research on ballistics and penetration of different projectiles. You are legally accountable for for every bullet. Buck shot and almost all pistols rounds will penetrate multiple layers of drywall and could easily leave the house. Most 5.56 and .223 loads from an AR will only get through one possible two walls and most of their bullets will immediately start to break apart.

Really, really, really examine this very thoroughly before deciding. No saying @Old State is wrong but there are lots of youtube videos showing all manner of rounds (including 5.56) cutting through multiple layers of drywall with ease. Contrast that to the videos showing a shotgun with 8 (bird) shot which seems to make it through only 2-3 layers (a typical modern home wall and maybe a half more).

Also, the AR platform is considerably more involved than a shotgun. They are awesome but simply more going on with them.

Just do your research and make the best decision for you.

Good luck!

I agree do your research and regard who is writing the advice. There are lots of yahoos online and on YouTube.
I have to disagree about an AR being complicated. IMO it’s one if easiest guns to manipulate. Like everything you need practice and training. Also easier to use among small and large people. Also bird shot isn’t recommended by any firearms experts I know of. Simply doesn’t have the soft tissue penetration to reliably incapacitate a bad guy

Anyone here have a Browning 725 Sporting? Looking at possible getting a new Skeet and SC gun..

So it looks like I might be shooting clays every month with a work group. I went looking for a new shotgun. My thought was Remington (so the controls would be the same that I'm used to), 12 gauge (I have so much 12 gauge ammo and I don't want to start a new ammo can) and semi auto (to lessen the kick for when the boys go with me).

Then a realized I could check all the boxes except semiauto by replacing the barrel on my existing home defense shotgun, at half the price.

Does anyone have experience with vented rib barrels? I heard they are a bitch to clean... Do they reduce recoil enough to make it worth it?

Welp no one answered me, went out and got one anyways. So if anyone ever searches for a 725 they can find me.
It’s a swwweeet gun, but of course all the clubs are closed now. I need to a clay thrower for at home I guess.

A man who takes his own counsel is truly a man.

Looks sweet enough.

Mossberg does some silly things with guns... Chainsaw grip, etc. But I've always thought of your basic home defense shotgun as a flip between a Mossy 500 and a Remmy 870 (Remmy's controls won out for me). I think Benelli is a step up, but Ive never shot one. Everything else being equal, I'd buy the Benelli and not think twice about it

BTW, you'll never need sights for home defense, lol.

Edit: hickok45 for the win!

Hickok45 is the man, I’ve always enjoyed his channel. He really loves guns! I need to go watch some of his videos again one of these days when I have time.

I ordered parts for a long distance range rifle back in summer 2016. I used to go target shooting with my dad back in the day, and always loved dialing in a scope to hit paper targets a couple hundred yards down range. And I never had one, so I ordered up the parts to build one.

Anyway, life got busy and I never got around to putting this thing together. But with all the downtime from Covid19, I set aside some time last night to finally get this sucker built...

It's been quite a while since I've built an AR, so I had to fallback on the how-to videos:

Entire build took me about 75-min from start to finish. The upper was already pre-assembled, so I didn't have to mess around with the gas-block or mount the barrel.

Bipod and scope arrive Weds. I'm hoping to get her out to the range next week to get her sighted in!

Nice build. Excellent use of time. But, we have very different definitions of long distance. ;)

Cultural and socio-anthropological interest here:
So, a firearm is SHE, in a language (English) which normally uses just the neutral for "things"?
In traditional vernacular Greek literature the firearm was (if not neutral, normally) "He", as best friend and companion.
In much more recent modern Greek Army slang, the rifle is indeed a "she", replacing the girlfriend (military service is obligatory for each and every male citizen).
I won't cite the first names I attributed to my 4 consecutive rifles in the Hellenic Army, due to lack of context and inevitable lack of cultural understanding.

Hahahaha I get it. Most of my target stuff is dicking around at 25-75yds. I don't hunt, so I never had much need to target out beyond that.

For me 200-300 yds. is "pretty damn far," and just for the fun of longer distance target shooting.

Well, longer distance for me.

:p

It's interesting to see how the different "gun cultures" are arround the world.
Here 300m it's the standard distance for iron sight training.
In the other hand it's very hard to find ranges for long distance (600 m and beyond)
There is only one near my house, but is rarely open for civil use, maybe 2 or 3 times per year.

IWI Tavor X95 in 5.56 is on the way, been waiting for this one since mid-December when I ordered it

Bergara BMP in 6.5 Creedmoor is the next one on the list, complete with Viper Vortex PST 5-25x50 optic

I did buy a Bergara HMR (though I sold it already). That was the best gun I’ve ever shot, not that I’ve shot that many. After getting it sighted in I hit 300 yards, 500 yards, and went 3/3 at 750 yards. That my first time shooting it, so stretching it out that far was pretty cool

Went to Adventure Outdoors today. Ugh. Wanted to buy a Remington 870 Tactical. Sold Out. Plus the guy told me that there was no 12 gauge ammo in the whole store.
