Guns you own (5 Viewers)

Got a new one yesterday from pops for my birthday. Single action revolver. 5” colt 45 style Charles Daly blued NRA edition. Ivory style Handle. Of course I had to Apache case it. Lol Shoots strait as an arrow!

It’s fun to stick it in my pants too!

In Oregon it's been 5-12 days for the last 6 months or so.
That smells like political meddling. My mother bought a pistol a couple. Weeks ago and the background check went through instantly like it always does however Philadelphia always seems to pull crap like this. The city was actually sued about how long they were taking to approve concealed carry permits. They basically just don’t do it and let them sit for a month and approve them in a couple minutes. They now have 30 business days to approve it where is anywhere else in PA you get it in about 10 minutes

i can’t renew my CCW here in OH.

the last time I renewed it I made an appointment a few weeks before it expired and walked right in.

This time I checked 6 weeks before it was set to expire and there are no appointments available for the rest of the year! The appointment can only be scheduled online and there are no dates available. I call the sheriffs office and they are no help. They say keep checking the web site and that I shouldn’t have waited until the last minute to renew. How am I supposed to know I need to try a to get an appointment 1 year before it expires when I didn’t the last time?

I think at some point I read/heard something about all BGC in Oregon going thru the Oregon State Police to run instead of just straight into the NICS system, which is causing delays due to the abnormally high number of purchases. From talking to my FFL, during normal times it's only a 10-20 minute process. My guess is that if you have a fairly unique name (like mine), it skips over the OSP oversight/double check...not sure but that sounds logical to me?

NEW CHLs are also taking forever, but that's due to COVID. I put my application in back in August and I don't even get my appt to get printed and start the BGC process until December. Renewals are just done by mail I think, and they are taking longer than normal, but only a few days.

I had to renew mine in July. They did require an appointment this time but had said all permits were valid until the end of the year I think if you couldn’t make it in or feel comfortable doing it with COVID. I made my appointment a week out and the process took about 5 mins after I got there. The sheriffs are always super friendly and big second amendment guys...but then just about all non politically appointed LEO are in the US.

you know in Texas they give your CHL at birth.....................
Yeah but PA may have the best right to bear arms statement of any state Constitution..;)

Article I, Section 21 of the Pennsylvania State Constitution states: "The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned." :tup:

What is in that armorers kit?

Seems like pretty much everything you'd need to build an AR from scratch, aside from a vise.

Since I was only building the lower from parts I didn't use a lot of it, just the wrench/hammer, magwell vise block, and takedown pin install tool. I didn't even need the pin punches because the slide lock pin on the M4E1 is threaded and my trigger pins weren't too tight to push in by hand.

If you get into building rifles it looks like there are a lot of useful tools there. The bar next to the torque wrench is a great tool for tightening barrel nuts. I have the Midwest Industries version.
Did you stake the castle nut?

I did not stake it yet. Wanted to make sure I was happy with everything before I did. I'm considering an end plate with a QD or sling mount so I'm glad I didn't quite yet.

If anyone is looking for an AR barrel for a new build or as a replacement this is a good deal. FN is the other military contractor for the US. The barrel specs out very well AND has a tapered type profile rather than the govt profile which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Also a good price for a mil spec combat grade barrel....plus it’s actually in stock...as of now! Mid length gas system would be the cherry on top but standard carbine if perfectly fine.

Past on-duty police weapons:

S&W 6906 9mm -- good reliable gun;
Beretta 92F -- big, heavy, finicky gun that was not reliable at all, possibly due lack of maintenance before being issued to me;
Glock 17 -- you can't get better than perfect, and this gun was;
Current: S&W 6906 -- heavy, but ideal for its purpose and very reliable

Off-duty (personal): Walther PPK .380
My first gun was a SW 6906. Purchased it in 1996. I still have that and yes it shoots incredibly well and is very reliable.

Also have a modded 870 tactical, Ruger Vaquero, and “1 or 2” others...

Well, I was on the wait for this G19 MOS for two months, and it finally came in.

I’m looking at the holosun 507c red dot for $300 over the $500 RMR. Seems like a better value.

On a side note, the Olight weapon lights are on super sale through Amazon Prime for another few hours. This one is $70 and puts outs 600 lumens. Compared to the sure fire at $350... lol. I just paid $90 for it. Ugh. Yes I know I could probably return mine and buy another...

Update: I just snagged the Holosun 507c from Opticsplanet, and the mounting plate from C&H Precision... I’ll update new pics once I get the optic installed. This will be my first pistol mounted red dot...

Some minor updates:

TLR-7A
Talon Grips
Vickers Tactical Extended Mag Release and Slide Stop Lever

Tritium sights I bought came in looking dead so I ordered another set and sent them back. Should be about the last thing I want to do to this for CC/HD.

Put 200ish very dirty (unjacketed reloads) thru her last weekend and she ran great.

G44 is also a blast to shoot.

Plan to pop the rifle's cherry tomorrow!

Didn’t you just buy a 43, also?

I’m looking to buy that light

I’m looking to buy that light

I haven't had experience with a lot of lights, but I really like this one. Great lumen output for a small shorter light and easy/intuitive activation. I played around with a friend's light that had the more paddle type activation and I didn't care for it...but I also have short fingers.

Ya, funny you should mention that. (and I think it was well over a year ago I snagged the 43)

I already have a 43x on order. I love the 43, but I want a tad more capacity. For me, it comes down to convenience of carry. I won't CCW a G19, and find it too heavy or bulky to have on me at all times. Sure, there are moments where I'd sally up and carry the G19 for CCW, but not often. I firmly believe the best gun in a self defense situation is the gun you have on you, and I'm much more inclined to carry a smaller sized (more concealable) gun every day. The reality is most self defense situations involve very few rounds. That said, life is getting crazier these days, and 7 rounds (plus a spare 6 rd mag in my other pocket), feels lacking.

I also have a 2nd G19 MOS on order at a different gun shop in the area. I get a decent discount, so even if I approach it from an investment standpoint, it's a good deal. Do I "need" more guns? Probably not, but I don't really buy guns that have no purpose. I've actually let go of several guns recently that I felt were not needed, and I'm replacing them with more practical ones... Like my AR pistol, a G19, and the ones I have on order. Besides... as with poker chips, we don't always make purchases based on "need", lol...

The 43x and G19 orders aren't likely to be satisfied until 2021... It took me 2 months wait for my G19 MOS and I was #1 on the wait list at a very big/busy gun shop..

The waiting is crazy. just like with custom chips.

I think I was thinking of the 43X, that’s the slim version, right? Pretty slick. Was considering it as an outdoor running/fitness option but it’s just a bit too big.

Also spending a lot of time with th G19 lately and I am not feeling it. Maybe that will change.

This is the main reason I ended up with a Sig 365 - about the smallest gun I've found with a god trigger that has 12 in the mag. I couldnt see getting a 43 in a larger size than the 365. I had a CZ Rami, but it was too thick ( basically a mid size with the grip and barrel chopped down). I have had manny sub comapct 9's and have yet to find a better carry gun than the 365. From S&W shields, Kahr MK9, CZ Rami, Ruger LC9, Kimber solo....there was always something I didn't like about them - either trigger was bad or capapcity just bugged me
