Harrahs New Orleans NCV THC chip sale (5 Viewers)

I'm probably the only crazy one with this set, but I have cleaned hot stamps in my ultrasonic in the past with zero issues so once I have my set squared away and recovered enough from my recent shoulder surgery, that's how I plan to proceed with mine. You guys have WAAAAAAAY more patience than I do cleaning your chips 1 by 1. I am a 100 at a time guy... lol
Test first!!!!!! Not all hot stamps and foil are the same. Sometimes no affect. Sometimes it fades the stamp into a brassy dull condition. Sometimes it strips the stamp right off.

Everybody has their own methods, and something as simple as a teaspoon too much tsp, or 5 degrees in water temperature can wreck your day. So just because somebody used a method on some other chips doesn’t necessarily mean it will work great for these.

10 chip weight btw

Did you get fading or stamp removal? What’s your technique? Temp? Solution etc
I did half temp (21 degrees Celsius) and 2 tbsp of the fake TSP and everything has been fine in the past. No noticeable differences in the hot stamps from before to after. And I have done at least 5 different hot stamp chips in quantity and multiple other singles.

Thanks for the tips. I will as these chips are too pretty to mess up. I'll try my half dose method on a few before I do them in quantity. Won't be just yet though. Still have some more healing to do before I bust out the ultrasonic.

I concur. Zero issue with ultrasonic and hot stamps.

It's the detergent that matters. Metasilicates (false TSP) are fine.

I've already done a few test barrels in my Ultrasonic with no issues at all. Using 110F water and STPP (sodium tripolyphosphate) but I'm going to finish cleaning the cheap racks of Majestic Stars I got before I tackle the rest of the Harrahs.

I also used my U/S. Finished 600 of these in 2 hours.. no damage to the stamps.

How long?…20 seconds?

I run mine through for 2 minutes in the salad spinner... My normal method is the documented version where I run it with 4 tablespoons for 2 minutes at 43 Celsius (my US doesn't have Fahrenheit). With nice hot stamps, I lower the temp to lukewarm and lower the fake TSP, but I still do 2 minutes.

I still haven't done this set yet, so I can't speak to the success of this method, but I would guess that it would be fine as these hot stamps are in a lot better condition than others I have run through. And those older, faded hotstamps were not affected in any way.

I’ve been running 26C (can’t go lower) for 1 minute with 2 tbsp…perfecto. These aren’t that dirty. Did 700 in an hour.

So, for those who've already tackled it, what's the best way to go about cleaning the Harrah's Casino chips?

I'm not in a rush, so hand cleaning is fine if that's better/safer. I also have an ultrasonic.

TSP isn't available over here, but Dawn (Fairy liquid here) is easy to find. As is oxy clean and magic erasers.

I've read through a bunch of other threads, but the more I read, the more confused I get. What's the consensus?

Thanks!

I soaked in dawn for 15mins and then magic brush…. I must also be slow cuz I still have 1 rack left lol

I prefer hand cleaning but to each is own. If you use ultra sonic test some chips first and from what I've read use the lowest temp setting around 20-25° Celsius and be very conservative with any cleaning solution use.
I saw alot of people recommended against TSP I believe

When soaking in Dawn, what's the ratio of soap to water that you're you using? What temperature water?

I’ve had hot stamps wear off due to dawn + hot water…so def be cautious and read up. Must be 500 posts on this aubject matter. In fact where is the harrahs hot stamp pr0n owners thread yet? Those r the best…

I cleaned all 1500 chips in about 3 hours total…with some lolly gagging built in.

Soak in soapy water for a while…US for 1 minute (my unit can take 1.25 gallons of distilled water w/ 2 tbsp of TSP) with temp turned off (US vibration will warm the water up to 25ish C). Double rinse in clean water.

I changed out the US water every 300-400 chips. The T1ks are raunchy.

Hot stamps look amazing and not a hint of hooker juice remains.

2-3 tablespoons and warm water not scalding hot
I use probably a gallon of water
This is my first time cleaning hot stamps and I’ve been doing it by hand, at what point do you use your pairing knife? I’m 24 racks in with 12 left to go and I’ve probably altered my cleaning technique 3-4 times, learning on the fly while building character I suppose haha. My current technique is I’ve been pre-cleaning the chips in room temperature water and dawn for a few hours while I’m watching tv or whatever, occasionally agitating the chips in the bowl, then when they’re done wipe them down with a soft towel. After they’re dry I do the pairing knife. And then finally soak again for 15 minutes and magic erase then soak in oil and water before drying. I’m curious as to when you use your pairing knife, I found with some of the chips like the T1Ks using the pairing knife while the chip was wet smeared the juice which wasn’t very easy to then clean.

I only use it to clean the canes out and the outer THC ring, since the magic eraser doesn't have enough abrasion to remove stuck grime from the cracks (and I don't use any brushes at all with hot stamps)
But I do it during the same time I use the magic eraser and just do a quick swipe of the face, check for any spots to use the knife, and another several swipes on the rolling edge only. I only soak/scrub once.
Edit: I soak a barrel at a time about 20 minutes prior to scrubbing

I also would like to try the oil/water type method for these guys but have been doing it by hand individually with a microfiber towel

Would a soft toothbrush work to free up gunk in your opinion? (instead of a knife).

Would also like to know more about the water/oil method.

I've never done it myself, but I think the water/oil method is....

Get a bucket of water, fill it half way with water, dump in a bit of oil until it forms a thin layer on top of the water.
Get a strainer, put your chips in it. Repeatedly dunk the strainer with your chips in and out of the oil vigorously.
This will coat your chips in the oil.
Remove chips and dry off excess oil/water with a microfiber towel.

It's a quick and dirty method to oil your chips. I also heard it doesn't fully get oil into the nooks and crannies of the clay so you may have to re-oil more often. But the time saving is similar when going from hand cleaning to US. (Going from 1 at a time to a rack at a time, depending on how big your bucket and strainer are.)
