Have Chinese cards mold replica sets gone too far? (5 Viewers)

How tina and the other vendors on this site that sell ceramics that look like straight scans of rare sets get supported here I dont understand. Like the president new yorker chips that can be ordered on the bootleg paulson ceramic mold.

In all fairness, it's probably a dead horse worth beating.
This is the truth. If everybody just keeps quiet about something, people might start to think that the community approves of it.

Not really. Because it’s dumb that people pick and choose what they want to complain about. Did you get James Cameron’s permission to use his art as your profile pic here? If not, you’re violating a copyright law.

I’m not sure that’s true. But regardless, yeah, we all have to pick and choose what we bitch about. (Insert upNdown jokes here.). That’s not always comfortable and it sometimes feels hypocritical, but what’s the alternative? Never discuss anything that feels wrong?

Maybe the horse is dead because GPI killed it. If consumer market Paulson chips were still available at reasonable prices would this be that big of an issue?
I don't think all the hubbub is called for here. It only takes someone of moderate knowledge to see the difference between a clay chip and a ceramic chip. Think about all the details and differences between the two. Unfortunately, copyrights and trademarks are hard to enforce in some foreign countries. Violating active copyrights or registered trademarks should not be done but I don't see the big deal in reproducing extinct casino designs. I don't see the big deal in reproducing edge spot patterns and colors, extinct or active, as long as it's on a ceramic chip or different substrate that can obviously be differentiated from the original.
"Yeah, but....." responses are anticipated. It's interesting to note what things get people in a tizzy: We can't have duplicated (extinct) casino chips but other duplicated items are ok.

That’s not even the half of it. They’re cloning sheep now. CLONING. I know how this fucking ends. Look at what happened on Coruscant.
I remember my 8th grade history teacher going around the school town cryer style and barging into my 8th period English class to share the news that Dolly the Cloned Sheep died.

Everyone looked around for 5 seconds like "WTF", the teacher included, and then we just went on with reading Julius Caesar.

I think people who are upset about these things have their heart in the right place, but swearing your allegiance to artwork from random defunct casinos seems kind of odd.

I could see outrage at faking the RHC mold itself being a different story, but we have a whole other thread for that.

If the “community” didn’t approve, they wouldn’t be here. There’s more than a few people that make this “community”, and despite the best efforts of some, you’ll never convince all that one way is right, and one is not.

You clearly don't understand copyright law.
