This is all so interesting to me, as a first time witness to one of these chip sales.
I was surprised at the prices Apache was selling chips for - I thought they could have been higher, especially given how fast they sold (and I'm guessing Apache didn't have that many chips.)
But I'm assuming he wanted to get rid of all of his and make his profit before thechiproom reopens HIS sale, at presumably lower prices.
But given how fast the Apache chips went, shouldn't thechiproom's next round of prices be higher?
And does the market ever become saturated? I mean I know the market is starved for Paulson chips, but on the other hand, how many people are actually out there, who are interested in paying $1-$5 per chip for poker chips?
It's fascinating.

I agree. It also seems that a sale like this depresses pricing on most other Paulson sales - at least temporarily. Just look through the listings at all the "price reduced" notices. I think the market is small as you point out. Right now, the Horseshoe sale is dominating the market's attention and purchasing power.

I think that the collective opinion of this market has determined that Paulsons are the epitome of poker chips - especially casino Paulsons - and set prices accordingly. It is just a matter of time before these Horseshoes are sold off and removed from the marketplace as people add them to their collections. Then we will see a return to the premium Paulson prices.

I love this sickness of ours!

My guess is that there are around 100 active people at a time that are willing to pay those type of prices.Prices may slightly drop for other sets since people are trying to dump existing sets to pay for these. When the Horseshoe chips sell out, you will see their values rise instantly. I would expect that in a year, the $500's will start going for $5-$10 each and the $1000's+ will go for $15 - $25 each.

Paulson has been regarded as the nicest chip for at least the last 20+ years. Since TR King and BCC are out of business, our only clay options are CPC and Paulson. The fact that you can get custom CPC chips shows that there are very few (if any) that would prefer CPC over Paulsons. This drives the price up since the only Paulsons you can get now are from either closed casinos or ones that never opened.

What will really be interesting is if the Horseshoe Cincinnati chips hit the market.

It rebranded after Cleveland so the redemption period would run later as well.

If Jim does end up getting them as well I can see him waiting a while to start selling them as the market will be well saturated.

I'm still looking for a few more sec $5ks. I have all other sec denoms to trade. $25, $100, $500, $1ks, and $25ks. PM me with some trade offers.

Jim said he did not get the Cincy chips

I saw that, but that could mean he is still negotiating possibly? Or having to wait longer because the redemption time?

Those chips are most likely going to hit the market and that would mean close to 1 million Paulsons in a short amount of time on the street. If that doesn't drive prices down, especially on the lower demon chips I don't know what will.

If he didn't get them, who buys a lot like that......

There are several vendors that would love to have the opportunity to buy them! I tried myself but couldn't get a phone call returned from Rock Gaming.
