Abd you really don’t want the cover. It’s not really removable, so it just gets in the way for moving, storage, and cleaning, while offering no benefits.

This. I cleared out a space for it where it will stay. Besides, it looks like the cover can come off with a Phillips head, no?

The only I way I sold my wife on it is that we can use this during the winter to make dogs so we don't have to go outside when it's cold.

That, and I opted for the cover because my basement is unfinished and there's spiders and bugs and shit that can pop up just about anywhere.

Assuming they’re all the same, the cover is three pieces of glass. And as I recall, the Phillips head screws that hold the cover onto the roller unit are also holding the cover itself together. I just know I was excited for the cool cover, but once I started putting it together, I said nope, this is going to be a pain in the butt.
(But mine lives in the basement and only comes upstairs for games)

You are right the cover is three pieces of tempered glass. I put it together with one hand. I like it for the sneeze guard it is.
