I bought a bunch of Outlaws as my first chip set and couldn’t be happier. But having tried lots of samples, the clays just don’t seem to appeal to me. So I’ve been slowly picking up some ceramics and am slowly becoming addicted. I see custom sets in my future!

I have a custom ceramic tourney and cash set from GOCC and love them. So much that I bought a set of Native Lights, played one game with them, and sold them off. Look forward to seeing your customs!!

My first "real" set was my Chipco tourney set, and it's still my favourite. I can't see me selling it. I did that with my matching cash set, and regretted it enough to rebuild it. Both are keepers.

Very nice sets. My next set will be a tourney ceramic set. Not sure whether it'll be hybrids or not. Only want 39mm.

Nothing wrong with ceramics -- full-face printing, consistent weight/dimensions, reasonable cost.

What clay chip samples do you have? I suspect they may actually be plastic..... which may explain the lack of appeal.

I can’t talk for what other samples he has, but @Darson will be be getting a sample of my impending cpc set soon.

I’m sure he will be mocking up a cpc set of his own in no time. No one can resist custom cpc goodness.

Those are excellent. I could see a custom set of ceramics as my next set. I’ve been trying to figure out how to come up with an interesting limit set and I think the ratio of quality, flexibility, and price is just about right with custom ceramics.

I can, particularly after looking at custom cpc prices.

I'd love to get my A.S.S. chips made -- just not willing to invest that much in them.
To be fair I actually prefer Paulsons and it’s not even close. Once you find that perfect theme it’s hard not to go for the cpcs though.

Once you get into complex spots and more expensive molds and inlays it is a bit ridiculous.

Ceramics certainly are the cost effective option.

Can you at least post your A.S.S mockups so the forum can convince you to spend

Nothing wrong with having a ceramic fetish. My first real set were chipco ceramics, and my wife's favorite set is the American Beauties ceramics. Gotta admit, they are pretty to look at :)

What was the story with these, these were before my time on CT. Who got the permission last time. I wonder if it would be possible to do another GB of these.

I have Paulson Elites and Horseshoe Cinci. And a whole bunch of china clays (milano, pharaoes, majestic, dunes, CPS). I dunno - I just seem to like the ceramics more. Especially ChipCo.

I am interested to experience @Perthmike 's Motswari CPCs which is why I got the sample but the price of a big set is a bit of a hurdle... Also, I'm not sure if I'd want my donkey pals playing with super expensive chips and if they don't get used, what's the point?

After ordering the hybrids from Sunfly I became hooked. I was skeptical because I had limited exposure to ceramic chips. Those being the super-shitty ceramic chips used at Seneca casinos poker room.
But sunflys hybrids have completely changedy mind. I love Paulson clay. But the hybrid Ceramics are worth every penny. And their ability to be whatever you desire without "levels" is its biggest advantage.

I'm not sure about the back story. I think they were made by Nevada Jacks, but I don't know if they were part of a GB.

I can help provide a bit of info, as I was part of CT at the time and participated in the original order:

The "American Beauties" chip set was started in 2005 as a Group Buy under the watchful eye of TenPercenter. The idea for the chips was his, and he contacted the artist (Greg Hildebrandt) for permission to use his paintings on the chips. Mr. Hildebrandt agreed, and even signed "Certificates of Authenticity" for GB members who purchased over 500 chips. The chips were produced on Nevada Jack's casino-grade composite chip and, once the GB ended, these chips were available through Holdempokerchips and Nevada Jacks. I'm not sure how many of these are out in the wild -- according to the CT thread, just over 31000 were sold to members, but that number will be low as these were available to the general public afterwards.

I believe the design for these chips would be owned by 10%er and Mr. Hildebrandt, so I doubt another GB would be possible without getting their approvals.

Here's my set of samples: framed, and with the original COA.

If you don’t end up liking them...interested to see what you plan on doing with them.
I’ve been struggling to find a ceramic set with lots of quarters for the cash game that my pals play. I think these will get a fair bit of use until I do a custom set or something.

I played with paulsons for years and didnt get into ceramics until I joined this site. Kinda backwards but i think they’re great and use them every week
