Well. Broke down and bought my wife a new car this week so unfortunately will have to watch you all celebrate this awesome group buy. I’m out.
How unfortunate. Cars aren't even that useful...you can't shuffle them, or play poker with them. Plus you can buy them in a store instead of resorting to a sketchy internet forum...like where's the fun.

I'm seeing some news reports that Italy is most likely going back into lockdown due to Covid. We are still going to work on the chip designs, but there is a chance that this GB might be postponed. Once we get the designs finalized, I will see what the situation is with Abbiati.

No different from first GB, lol we wait again!

Just an update. I've been back and forth with Abbiati about pricing on different chips, options, etc. The goal is to keep the costs reasonable and have those costs and fees spread equally per order no matter if you order a cash set or tourney set. Lowering the PPC for everyone. In order to do that, all chips will be 39mm and have a custom inner ring.

There are going to be two options put on the table for a vote.

Option #1 is an expanded cash set that can be used for cash and tourney. No mold is used twice. (except the $20/$25)
This is option #1 which we are still tweaking the inlay design, specifically the denom text.

Option #2 is a separate cash and tourney set. Some molds are used more than once.

No photo yet as things are still being worked on.

I'll post another update once option #2 is ready and will put a poll up at that time.

Wow love the $1000 and $5000 chips look stunning but feel like there could be issues with dirty stacks between the 25k and 1k, or do the pictures make them seem more similar than they are?

Love those fracs and 20’s!

Feel free to postpone the shit of this! I'm currently in cash-hemorrhage mode for my daughter's wedding in 2 weeks.

Appreciate the update Tommy. Do what you do. We’ll be here.

I'm definitely out. I was intrigued by the oversized tournament chips, but I can't justify the cost for the 39mms (so I probably wouldn't have been able to justify the higher cost of the biggies either.)
Anyway, I do have a shuffle stack of 10x T500 from the previous group buy - if anybody wants to buy them, hit me up. I'm pretty sure these are the best non-clay chips I've ever handled - they're very cool.

I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere here but I haven't gone through every page of comments - what are we looking at for pricing / shipping etc...?

I run a pretty wide range of cash games, and micro stakes do come up, so I'd probably only be looking at these as a tournament option if a nickel isn't in the designs. Unless someone could suggest an alternative chip to use? I do love these designs!

Relabels are an option, though not a cheap one. I believe @allforcharity did some relabels on the last GB to generate $25 chip and some higher amount tournament chips. Can't recall if that was still offered so I tagged him here.

I would definitely be in favor of adding a nickel or ncv (that could be used for whatever) as my group plays primarily microstakes, if that is an option to add. Totally understand if not, but thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I may be in for a tournament set this round. Been having an itch to buy another set so we'll see how much discipline I have to keep my chip funds around until this GB kicks off

Thanks for the tag. Yes, I did do some relabeling of various Crown Plaza chips with custom cash and tournament denominations by coordinating with @Gear and @p5woody .

I'll tell you right now, that project was a real bitch and a half. Abbiati's vinyl labels are nothing like Paulson or CPC labels. They don't much come "off" as they come "apart", and there is a hell of a lot of epoxy residue afterward to deal with. In short, it's a tedious scrapefest using liberal amounts of isopropyl alcohol as both a solvent and lubricant. Not quite as horrible as an old paper inlay, but close.

If we are to embark on a project like this again, I want everybody to go in with eyes open. There will be art licensing fees to deal with. There will be label costs to deal with. There will be my time costs to deal with. There will be back-and-forth shipping costs to deal with. There will be time needed to coordinate these things. And when everything is added together, it would probably not be considered by any sane person here to be "cheap". And this is all over-and-above the actual procurement cost of the Abbiati chip to begin with.

Fair warning: it would probably not be worth it, on a per chip basis, to convert less than 50 chips per order (to one address). You can count on at least doubling the base cost of your chip, and that might not even cover all the shipping costs. I'd work with others to try to keep costs down as reasonably as possible, but there's only so much that can be done when working with the postal system of multiple countries. A single US-based reshipper would help.

I'm open to being part of any discussion about this.

I wonder how open Abbiati would be to sending some chips without labels
