I have this set of Paulsons forever. I'm considering selling them but not sure if it's best to sell as an entire set... 20 at a time, etc.. Check it out!

Ok, You are the right place if you are planning to sell, but you should setup a For Sale in classifieds sections. The whole lot would go for around 3000-3500$ of you ask megood luck

They're known as Paulson Classics (not to be confused with Paulson World Top Hat & Cane, another popular Paulson fantasy set,) if you do searches for them under that name, you'll find more useful info. I'd say they're worth in the $3 to $3.50 apiece range, but a ton of factors go into what chips actually sell for.

Ignore anything you see on eBay if you want to sell by the rack or the whole set. Most eBay sales are people trying to get a really high price per chip by selling them in small lots of 10 or 20. Could take you a year or two to sell all 720.

If you sell the whole lot here, I agree with previous posts that you will be around $3 per chip. You can search the Classifieds history and see what sets have gone for and compare chip condition. Yours look to be in pretty good shape. Clean and no obvious flea bites.

That being said, the $500s and $1,000s are a bit harder to find. It took me 6 months to track down 2 racks of the $500 and 1 rack of the $1,000. If you break up the set you might be able get a little more for the high denoms.

Good luck!

Oh, good to know. Thanks I wasn't aware of the distinction with the Classics. They're been stored away unused for about 15years now.

If that's the case, then it's a no-brainer to sell them separately, since it seems like they don't really fit in with this set.
Not $100 rare but eBay is a magical thing and people will buy anything. Not chips but as an example, back in my 20s when I was training Thoroughbreds at Woodvine in Toronto I would list and sell the Aluminum shoes taken off the horses.... each pair sold for $25usd plus shipping back then and they actually sold a couple dozen pairs or so per month for a while.

I still remember the ad, something like
Thoroughbred Horse Shoes from Winning Racing stable in Canada. Some people paid extra for "Turf" models ($40) that were the exact same shoes but with rasp filed toe clips from shoes used in grass surface races.

I once traded a set of aluminum horseshoes for a self bow, a medicine pipe, and some flint rock. I don’t know why people want them so bad but it’s out there.

I just feel that the price is getting crazier and crazier. It's rising every year, and it's rising very much. In this way, will you really play games with these new chips?

What you have there is a rather inefficiently distributed single-table tournament set, plus the 10s, which are useless as part of that set.

The 10s will not find a large market to US buyers unless you hit upon the rare soul or non-US PCFer who wants them, probably for relabeling. Selling them, you'll be very lucky to get $3 each, not the $5 you've priced them at.

That leaves your 580 piece tourney set, which is long on 25s and 100s, extra-long on 500s, and very short on 1Ks, even for a single-table 200BB set. And no matter how you slice it, Paulson mold are the low end of Paulson chips. Price the set at $3 each, or $1740, and you should get a bite at or close to that figure. Not from me, but PCF has a lot of relative newbies with more money than sense these days... :cool

What makes it a "low end" Paulson? It was still made with the same Paulson process and materials, just with a different stamp in the mold process. If you don't like the mold, that's a matter of opinion and not a matter of actual chip quality. The $10s are definitely extra, but the rest can easily be used for a $2,500, or $5,000 starting stack depending on number of players, not every chip set has to be based on a $10k starting stack.

But I do agree, $3 is pretty much the price market for these.
