I've had these Paulson Top Hat & Canes forever. What is this set worth? (1 Viewer)

What makes it a "low end" Paulson? It was still made with the same Paulson process and materials, just with a different stamp in the mold process. If you don't like the mold, that's a matter of opinion and not a matter of actual chip quality. The $10s are definitely extra, but the rest can easily be used for a $2,500, or $5,000 starting stack depending on number of players, not every chip set has to be based on a $10k starting stack.

But I do agree, $3 is pretty much the price market for these.
Not necessarily a low end Paulson, but it is a fact that the ”Paulson chips”- mold is one of the lesser sought after molds. Also, I do believe that the classics is the least sought after set on that mold, with the CDI 05s being second and Pharaoes first.

With that said, it’s still a high end chip set and imo the feel of these are amazing! I wish I still had my CDI 05 set.

This breakdown do leave some to be desired and it will probably be best to sell these by the rack if one wants to get the most out of them (on here).

I have of these exact same chips (800 total). They are a playable tournament set with $5, $25, $100, $500, and $1,000's. It is a 12 player set with each denomination exactly distributed. I recently looked on Apache Poker Chips website and they were listing them for $6 a piece. Those were for loose chips, not a set. So, I guess the price has doubled over the past year. Anyhow, the reason these particular chips have risen in price is because Paulson stopped making chips for the home market. I paid 94 cents a piece for them back in 2006, which was expensive (top end) at the time. I'm glad I purchased them. It was a good investment (even though I didn't buy them as one). These chips, despite what some have said, are very high end and always have been. There's no such thing as "high end" or "low end" Paulsons. A Paulson is a Paulson. I have a set of Chipco's that I use when I play so the Paulsons only get played with on special occasions. I'm going to hold on to mine.

Yes, haha. I understand that Paulson casino chips are probably "better" but I don't think you can get a better home set than the Paulson Classics. It would be much more expensive to go to a casino and buy a playable tournament set.

1st of all I love when 2 year old threads get resurrected especially when prices are concerned

2nd are you trying to tell me these aren't worth $15.50/chip?!?

But they're RARE Paulson 41mm's!!!

I get on here very rarely, so I tend to resurrect old threads. A chip is ultimately worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I wouldn't pay $6 or even $15.50 per chip for a set. I have paid that for some individual Hard Rock Cafe chips though (if they have themes and graphics that I like).

These look “ok” I guess. If you want, totally up yo you, but if you want, I’ll give you a dollar a chip, I guess. Don’t worry about what these other people say on here about these chips. I’ve got your back.

Joking aside, awesome chips. I’m not a good judge on pricing. People here will be able to give you a real price. Keep in mind it won’t be eBay pricing that tends to be 2x or 3x what they should be.

I wish I could buy these myself.
GLWS!!!

I know @ninjajim4 was looking for reasonably priced Classics.

Prices for Classics haven’t changed that much in the last couple years. Generally, they go for around $3 per chip for the lower denoms and up to $4 per for the $500 and $1K.
eBay prices higher, but only because there’s a large enough pool of people that don’t know where else to get them.

I can listed them for $15.50 each but that didn’t mean they are worth $15.50 each

General pricing for Paulson Classics is $3 for $1-$25, $4 for $100-$1k

Personnel, I like Paulson Classics - I must be in the minority I guess

Bullshit. When I said "low end Paulson", that rather obviously meant 'low end of the Paulson range". If you think that classics can compete in price with, say, Vegas house molds, or THCs, good luck to you, sucker.

And if you think that you can get a playable chip set by buying Vegas molds then good luck to you. I would take a mint set of Classics over worn out casino chips any day. By the way no need for the name calling unless it makes you feel better about yourself. Then by all means have at it.

@Darren 555 If there are "no low end or high end Paulsons" why do some Paulsons sell for $2500 a rack, and, others sell for $100? Why is it that many members have to have THC and refuse to own, or use, RHC? Though they are all quality Paulson chips, the perceived, and, therefore realized value of each is completely different.

I don’t know much about it but the reason that the classics have increased in value is because Paulson stopped making them and many people want them. If they start making classics for the home market again then the price will go back down more than likely

The value increase of Classics is not confined to them...all Paulsons have increased in value. I would argue there's plenty of other Paulsons that have seen a far greater bump in value over the last couple years than Classics.

Not sure about many people wanting PC.... many out for sale, been there forever (ok, that might be due to an overambitious seller).

True. I just don’t know why the others have increased. Inflation?
