Just ordered my first set of Modiano Platinum Acetate Cards (1 Viewer)

I love my Modianos! We've been using my Dal Negros lately though.
Copags are awesome as well.

Personal favs are Fournier and Gemaco Superflex, the latter of which are the nutz in my book. Platinum Acetate are also good, but rank a solid 3rd - not worth the extra cost over the other two imo.

OK, I'm going to try the Gemaco Superflex cards. Will post comments once they arrive.

These are my second, go to, setup. I always use these for my second tables, and there are NO complaints.

Where did you find them? I have a set of bridge size Grand Victoria cards that I think are Gemaco Superflex, but I can't remember seeing them sold for home use (just casino stock from Jim).

Kick those ungrateful bastards out. No complaints in serious thread. ;)

Ooops, typo, meant to say NO complaints. I fixed my post. I know how those Gemacos are near and dear to you

I got mine from Rochester Chess Center (they no longer carry them). The Dallas Poker Store carries both sizes for $22 (but doesn't ship) if you know somebody in the area.

Also picked up a $12 Ace Phoenix setup from RCC, just to check out. Will be using them in next month's tournament.

Josh @ Apache got them shipped out mighty quick, received them yesterday. These blow any Kems or Copags I've had out of the water. They just have this texture to them that makes them much more pleasurable to shuffle, less slippery than other plastic decks. And less likely to have the deck splatter everywhere when you're shuffling, the cards just meld together when shuffling like butter. Expensive, but I can see they'll be worth it long-term

I understand that copags can feel slippery if use to paper cards...but if the modiano's platinum is to slippery then not much options left.
I would also say try Fournier or Gemaco superflex...

Might be a language barrier issue or maybe you just misread, I found the Modiano to be perfect and NOT slippery. My past experience with Kim and Copag those cards WERE slippery, hope that clears it up

I'm sorry, I mixed up this thread with another one
Same here...love the modiano's ;)

Yup, the Modiano's (to me) are the best of both worlds. They're are acetate (plastic), and have all the benefits of that, but their texture (being acetate) is more paper-like, and less slippery.

I prefer to have jumbo index in both poker and bridge sizes. Poker for the Hold'em games and bridge for Omaha and Stud games.

You don't find the Jumbo Index cards difficult to read in the four card games? I don't own any JI cards. I'm starting to think that I need to, lol. Getting old is a bitch.

I dislike poker-size cards mostly from a dealer's perspective -- bridge-size cards are much easier to handle and shuffle, and less tiring to use over long periods of time. I also dislike poker-size cards in stud-variation games, as they take up too much space on the playing surface, especially at a full and crowded table.

I prefer regular index when playing hold'em/Omaha or other board-card games, since less of the card needs to be exposed to read the cards in my hand. However, I prefer jumbo index for stud-variation games, so that the exposed cards on the table are more easily read from a distance.

And @detroitdad - as my eyesight grows worse with age, I'm slowly giving into using jumbo index for hold'em/Omaha too, just so I can read the damn board cards if I'm not in seats one, five, or nine. :( It seems to be the lesser of two evils.

I'm not having much luck finding Superflex vendors.

Gemaco seem to be owned by GPI?

Does Apache stock them?

I included a Kardwell link above. Mine should arrive tomorrow. Do they not ship international?

So in other words they feel like Bicycle Prestige? ;)

Still on my 1st deck of Bicycle Prestige cards from over 2 years ago. No damage to them with monthly play.

Even the non "acetate" regular plastic Modiano card always have had that great feel ..

I've had two decks of prestige cards "chipped" by rough players throwing their cards into the muck. The corners broke off... I like these cards, don't get me wrong, but I've never had this happen to any other plastic cards.

From Apache, I've read great things but have only ever owned Copags and Kems, so looking forward to seeing this set when it arrives. Pretty pricey, but I've heard there's no comparison and they are worth it. Wound up going with the Jumbo Index

These are the exact same one I purchased from Apache as well. Very helpful there. Everyone comments on my cards and how crisp and sharp they are for play. Nice choice.

No broken cards here, but I have several Prestige decks where the ink is wearing badly. If on the faces, it's not a serious problem..... but when it appears on the backs, the decks turn into auto-trash.

I only host once a month, putting them into play for the first time this Saturday!

I love mine, don't use them as much as I would like as I don't play as much as I like. I gave the guy who hosts our game two decks for Hanukah and they were the talk of the game afterwards.

Terrance:

How do the Platinum Acetates compare with other Modianos, such as the Texas Pokers in terms of feel and durability?

Andrew

Just want to say I LOVED the Modiano Platinum Acetates in last nights game AND my players noticed them as well and gave their compliments on how much they liked the cards. They just shuffle together so freaking smooth!
