Life is Grand! (3 Viewers)

I snoozed on the sample set sale too (actually was just busy with mother's day activities). If anyone bought an extra sample set they could let go please do PM me. Thanks!

I might know a guy. I'll check. I'm not a sample set guy myself (unless its customs).

Although it does show a 36mm on the Chip Guide. Maybe they dissapeared.
I don't see a NCV section listed on the Chip Guide, what section did you see the 36mm tourney under?

Sigh
Why GPI, WHY??? I've handled the 36mm chips. They're fine. I actually own a heads up set. But costs aside, who would ever choose smaller chips?

could be convenient for travel sets but other than that i have no idea...

Yea just cheaper is my guess too hence why they are usually solid or with very simple edge spots.

36mm chips are quite nice. I have two 36mm sets (majestic star low limit NCV & HS Cincinnati NCV) and they are brilliant. The quality is every bit as nice as the larger chips and the size distinguishes them from the cash chips as well. For a full 10 player table the chips give a slight perception of more room as well. Lastly a girlfriend commented on how they were a nicer size for her smaller hands....a statement I had never considered but made perfect sense along with bridge sized cards.

You can say you like them and that's fine. This whole hobby is subjective. But I've seen this "argument" before. I'm glad you qualified it with slight and perception, but this seems a lot more like people trying to make up positives for 36mm chips, than anything close to reality. But like I said, I only have a heads-up set, so I can't really know.

@Ben8257

He is like the Chairman of 36mm & giant inlay board :p
Hey now... I have changed my evil ways... I am down to 1 set of Giant Inlay 39mm and they were my first Paulson Set, not going anywhere.

As far as what is the appeal of 36mm... not sure this is the right thread for such discussions but for me it is all about variety. We all like different things in this hobby... there are some that straight up say Leaded Textured THC or bust, not sure how many more sets they will be building in this market but hey, it's YOUR chipping journey! I like ceramics, Hybrids, all sizes of Clay chips. Do I think they are ever going to be a crowd pleaser or a chosen favorite whrn others are an option? Absolutely NOT! But it's all about the rotation and changing it up for me. And I don't actually have that many 36's either.

To each their own, I'm not a huge fan of high end plastic chips but others on here love them. Buy and play what you enjoy I say... as far as why I would say a combination of above mentions of Security given obviously different than cash chips and I bet considerably cheaper to have made as well. I think they are pretty cool and those that haven't shuffle a barrel of LPG Molds (lolly pop guild we call them) I do hope eventually you get the opportunity. No I wouldn't suggest them as a first or primary set, but a fun change of pace mixed into a rotation. Especially the next game after you play a full 43mm line up and people complaining the chips are "too big!" Next time hit them with the 36mm... when they say that's "Too Small!" Break out the Fat Hat 48mm. Lol

I love em all! Especially Clay!

Since I was a good boy today and took my wife / kids / grandkids out for Mother's Day lunch, I missed the sample set sale. Wondering if anyone who bought multiple sets might be willing to send one around for others to get a look at? If so, please put me on the list.

To be clear, not looking to buy the set, just get it for a day to look at, then send on to the next person. Seems like somebody did this for the Jack Cinci sample set.
I think I can oblige to loan you the set.
pm me
I would like to be part of the "next person up" if possible

I dont see anyone doing this but just in case PM me as well Id love to poss take a few if someone parts out a sample
If anyone is selling singles from the sample set, PM me. I only want a couple of them for card cappers.
I'm sure after the sale is announced and we figure out what the percentage limits are, I'll want to keep some of the samples for the small set I'm building, but won't need others.

I like the idea of 36mm quarters being smaller because they are change. This option works well

Probably simply to differentiate from cash and tourney chips
So that people don't just painted the Tourney set and cash them in as Cash Chip without the Cage noticing
