Lightning Strikes (4 Viewers)

Amazing - another 2-1 game. Plenty of scoring opportunities but Crawford is playing well in net for the Hawks. Back to Chicago for game 6. Hopefully history repeats itself like 2004 when the Lightning won in double OT in Calgary to force a game 7.

Regardless of how things turn out, helluva thread K9. I was going to create one for the Cowboys march to the Super Bowl but it would've been 8 relevant posts, 32 posts of me bitching, and 762 posts of epitaphs and memes.

Thanks berg - it has been a fun thread to do. I had no idea the Lightning would make it this far. Regardless of how things finish, I am happy with my teams performance. I still truly believe we will win the Cup.

Sorry, but I think the Baby Jesus is the deep-dish-pizza-eating Jake and Elwood Blues Baby Jesus

(But GG)

That third period was amazing to watch.

Pressing till you get even - 30% of the time it works 100(ish)% of the time.

I need to watch more playoff hockey if that game was indicative of the intensity. Wow.

Great series. Very solid game by the Hawks. Lots of missed scoring chances by the Lightning. Really wanted to see it go 7 games. Congrats.

I have to hand it to Ben Bishop. He was hurting and it was obvious. If he wasn't such a great goalie the score is probably different. He stood tall for the Bolts.

Oh well, there goes my idea for a Stanley Cup themed custom chip set [emoji25] this year [emoji6]

I have to say, this series has been some of the best hockey I have ever seen.

Agreed. What an excellent series!
Sorry k9dr, that the Lightning weren't able to force a game 7. They had a remarkable run. Thanks, for starting this thread. I've been lurking in it since the beginning, & it had been a blast to follow!

Bolts had a heck of a run! Thanks for brings us along Mark! Without this thread and our small action I'm not sure how much hockey I would have watched after the Wings were knocked out... Some of the best hockey I've watched in a while... On to 2016!!!

after three game i thought i was something like 70% likely to be shipping my $200 down to tampa. surprised to see the series end in 6, but those 6 had better action and better play than the vast majority of all the 7 game series i've seen.

congrats chicago, condolences tampa. i think both of you lived and died with your goaltenders to some extent. i will be interested to see what is said about bishop's condition. he was obviously playing through the pain. chicago had the other side of that coin in crawford who basically turned into a brick wall last night.

It was a little like watching 2 teams standing 10 feet apart on an open field firing machine guns at one another. Offence was just unbelievable, penalties were at a minimum. As a former Chicago resident I am happy to see the Blackhawks win, would love to see my hometown Red Wings return to the top, and if by some miracle my current-residence Predators climbed to the top I will be cheering for them in an unbelievable fashion.

That said, I was happy to follow this thread and quietly support the Lightning until they ran into Chicago, the greatest sports town on earth. If the Hawks couldn't win on the ice by the 2nd period, I'm pretty sure the crowd would have lifted the rink on one end making it a literal uphill battle for Tampa Bay. ;)
