I find it odd that they are starting the series before the the first round is done. I know the the East is done and ready to go just poor planning on the part of the NHL IMO. Sometimes I really wonder about the people running the league.

Game day :D I fully expect Bishop and the Lightning to bounce back from last game (y)

Amazing overtime win by the Lightning. They persevered through the heavy hits by the Islanders. Jonathan Drouin returned to the game after being KO'd by Hickey in the second period to get the primary assist on the game tying goal by Kucherov. Then Brian Boyle lays out Hickey in OT and nets the game winner. The best part is how the Islanders are claiming that Boyle's hit was dirty but Hickey's hit on Drouin was just fine - I love when bullies whine when they lose at their own game.

I thought the hit on Drouin was clean, he stayed crouched and it was just a big hit. I was surprised that the Boyle hit didn't get called because in full speed his elbow does come up (it doesn't really hit him as you see in slow mo) and it was right in front of the ref without a clear angle didn't call it. I was also sitting with a few officials (not NHL but have numerous college games under their belt) watching the replay and they were surprised that a call wasn't made. Yes the height difference in the two players makes a difference as well. I also find it interesting that on that play there should be a call for either elbowing or embellishment. But I'm sure no ref wants to decide the game in OT unless it blatant.

Boyle hit Hickey square in the chest with his shoulder. He did not leave his feet and launch into him. Hickey goes down and holds his face - looks like embellishment to me. You can watch the hit on this GIF:

I thought the hit on Drouin was worse, but also not a suspendible hit. I just like that karma caught up with Hickey and the Islanders.

Forget leaving the ice - your clip showed proof positive that no attempt was made for the puck at all. Thus, it was a cheap shot/illegal hit.

Good hit. Playoff Hockey. But built up, changed direction, shifted weight, and fully unloaded after the puck was long gone.

It happens all the time. It gets called infrequently enough that it's good play, even if illegal (like holding in football). In hockey, it's even beneficial if your team in in the need of a line change.

Hickey's acting however, was deplorable. If I knew I could hurt his face that bad with a body check (one that could have been legal if Boyle had just looked at the puck once), I'd spend the rest of the series testing how much speed I could behind the next hit on him.

Game day :D Will probably see a lot of this tonight

Go Bolts !!

Another routine overtime win for the Bolts  Bishop stands tall in net again and gives his team a chance to win every game.

Really odd that the player they failed to call a penalty on - Garrison high stick on Okposo - scores the game winner again

Game day :D time to finish off the Islanders. But first, lets see some game 4 highlights

Finding out Anna isnt a redhead knocks her down a notch or two making Rachael the clear winner (though the two different spellings bugs me a tad) :D

I can not help but think those bios always make them seem like such bimbos, no matter how intelligent they may really be in real life. So I thought I would run a control sample...

I was pulling for my hometown Red Wings. They're gone
I was pulling for my second city, Chicago Blackhawks. Also gone.
I was pulling for local longshot Nashville Preds. Boop-gone.

I'm pulling for the Lightning now, but I'm not sure that's a good thing anymore...

Costly win last night. - Bishop out - Johnson dinged up - Callahan possibly facing suspension.- Lightning up 1-0 in the ECF

Game day :D Happy to leave Pittsburgh with home ice advantage and the series tied 1-1. Last game went about as I expected - a big push from a desperate Penguins team that could ill afford to go down 2-0 in the series. They played well but the Lightning almost stole the game with Killorn's shot off the crossbar late in the 3rd period.

It was great to have Stralman back in the lineup. Hopefully both Bishop and Callahan will be back tonight.
