I was playing in LA at the Commerce Friday night and I came across something I never saw before. Once you get 2 missed blinds the missed blind button is turned over and the player must pay a lobby fee of 1 small blind. The blind goes right into the pot for the next hand. The player lost 2 big blinds before coming back to the table and was a little annoyed when he was told he lost $8. I asked the dealer how long do they keep taking money off of the stack but there was a language problem with the dealer. Wondering if anyone is familiar with this new rule , if anyone has seen it anywhere else and comments on it ?

It’s called a lobbying fee and it’s designed to prevent people from walking away and leaving the table playing short handed. It’s only the small blind that’s put in the pot.

I'm actually ok with that. Not a fan of people not playing and occupying a seat when there is a wait list.
