Martini Lounge (2 Viewers)

I really like the original 5k label. Simple solution... You’re just gonna have to make a different label for each denom  :ROFLMAO:

These CDs were out years ago with a “lounge” theme.

Maybe there’s something you can use in there. There’s about 30 designs to choose from. Just google “ultra lounge”

For the record I did purchase the “bachelor pad royale” cd but was met with limited success when trying to put it into action...

The latest version using DeeVee's font. a more complete martini glass and a green olive that does not hide in the background.

I'm not as happy with the font though... done in pink, it feels a little too I Dream of Jeannie, and the denom font doesn't play well with it. Still, since I did the work, I figure I'd show it and see if the community bounces a few more ideas back.

Love the design. The font clashes a bit with the stars in your artwork, I think. Green olive is top notch. I do like this font for "The". @BonScot 's wild and swingin' may be the one you're looking for.

Neon v Retro now at 9-9.

Hopefully I will have some time to work on the neon today or tomorrow, but it feels pretty close to being complete.

My goal is to eventually have 9 ideas, and then put them up on a wallpaper that cycles. That is how I've done past designs. Then I find the one that my eye tends to look for - a "catch me unawares" scenario. I will also have the 9 "finalists" in this thread for feedback. It's been constructive so far, and I like the recent retro suggestions a lot.

I vote for a different picture for each chip!!

I like the retro style. Some of the versions look like they will come with a laugh track though.
Uppercase "M" looks better to me on Martini.

I own some of those ultra lounge cds.

I actually have a different picture on each chip in my CPC set and my World Edition chips.

While I won't rule out minor differences in each chip - the stars in the Retro need to be moved around for each denom to fill the void spaces which vary between the 500 denom and the 100,000 denom - my plan is to keep them basically uniform for a change.

I have checked and the entire Ultra Lounge collection is available on Spotify. This would be a go-to playlist on nights these chips hit the tables.

Is that turquoise background not going to clash with any of the chip colors?
It might. I'm waiting for better photos before I order the labels. I will also need exact label sizes, so I likely won't order until the chips have arrived.

If the turquoise clashes though, a black or a white ring can be utilized to separate the inlay color from the chip color.

I think the martini glass should be a little more substantial. And colour the olive green, please.

A proper martini has a lemon twist any way, not an olive  :whistling:

Cool design, following with interest! My opinion so far is that I like the "starry" font and although I usually like a good black inlay, I prefer the lighter colors for this theme.

I do not disagree with the lemon twist, but two olives, one stuffed with toasted almonds and the other stuffed with blue cheese has it's place (right before a steak dinner).

I took a month away from the project to let the ideas settle. The more I work on something the more I want that design to be the best, but it is not always the case.

I cannot say that the Neon design is completely out, but it is now on life support as the classic looks just feels better.

I have multiple working elements now that I need to pair together or start eliminating. 3 glasses, 2 fonts, outlined/drop shadow denoms. I'm pretty sure I will go with the yellow denom. I briefly considered color matching the denom, but decided to lean toward simplicity - a near impossible task for me.

I may also try a black (or white) ring around the label to minimize the color clash.

Still open for input.

Love it. The 500 and 25k chips look amazing. Defo go with the bright yellow denom and black outline.

In the lineup above the 100,000 chip is my favorite lable. That font on the others is comic sansy.

For me, the pink 25k label is my favourite however I change the denom like the orange 5k (yellow with black shadow) and move the denom down just a tad (or change the glass on the 5k chip to the same as the 25k chip - both ways end up the same).

Style of the 100,000 is more old-school vegas 50s/60s that las vegas club tried for a bit.

I think your numbers look kind of cartoonish, especially with the outline on the 500 and 25000. maybe something more thin or classic, or with contrast background like the LVC?

I had thought of doing something similar once, but I didn't, so watching this to see where you go with it.

I like the retro theme here, but when I tried to thin it out (T100,000), the denom became hard to read at chip size.

While the comic-like font feels comic-sans  it is easy for old eyes to read.

I'm really digging this. Less font, more design. Martini Lounge replaces Las Vegas Club. Denoms would be hard to fit in the space allowed though. Maybe the martini glass in the middle replacing the denom. Then put the denom in the outer circle?

Yes, the T100,000 is my benchmark for testing new fonts. It's just so big, and chips from the 40s-60s didn't use denoms that high.

I've been trying to stylize it with "the Mint" circa 1954 as my template...

In the meantime, the 100000 below shows my latest attempt.

Love the retro mid century modern theme and also love the playlist for your game, big band and the Rat Pack are my favorites. Best of luck with them.

Designs look great! - thinking a lighter black outline on the text looks better but I’d be happy with all of these designs. What program do you use for the mock ups?

I use Adobe Photoshop.

I know I should be using Illustrator. It would be easier once I got past the initial learning curve. My original chips (Zombies) were hand-drawn and then scanned, so the coloring resizing, etc. all took place in Photoshop. So I just stuck with the slightly less agile program.

Wallpaper v3 .jpg

This is where the retro set sits right now. I may go back and work on the Neon theme some more, and see which one is looking better. Still have a few more months before the chips arrive, so there is lots of time.

6 months later...

Chips in hand, the turquoise felt muted against the otherwise electric color of the Royals. I tried a few "fixes", but they only cluttered the design. Slipping into a funk, I set the project aside until I could be inspired again.

And I was...
Martini Lounge collection.jpg

A sharper edge glass to reflect the electricity of the chip. "Martini Lounge" in a softer blue color, representative of the chill effect of a perfect martini. I stuck with a simple "pimento" red for the denom, rather than a color-match to keep the chips more uniform than my typical "all over the place" motif of the zombie series.

What say you all?

It only 9 in the morning here but these make me feel like having a martini. Very nice.
