My experience with Tina's hybrid RHC (Trigger Warning) (28 Viewers)

So. All “ceramics” are just plastics? As far as chips are concerned? Asking because it seems you have expert knowledge.
In short, yes. Different plastics, sure. Composite plastics can contain all sorts of things.

But my point is, calling these chips ceramics is just not accurate, and is being used as a marketing word and has taken hold of all chip folk.

Proprietary blends should generally be referred to as their main component.

Example: I’m just a big drop of water touching a bunch of receptors on a bunch of light emitting diodes. However, because I’ve inhaled alumina silicates, I’m partially a ceramic hybrid.

So, I shall be known as ceramic.

See what I did there  :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, all chips are plastic, just different types and different mixes of ingredients.
There are a couple types of plastic, thermoplastic and thermosetting. Thermoplastic can be heated and softened, and repeated. Thermosetting get heated once and then “set”. These are usually harder and stronger.

Clays use a thermoplastic base, so they can be compressed into chips, and have that great soft feel. They can be heated to a low temp and flattened, or they can be damaged by low heat.

“Ceramics” use thermosetting plastic and are hard as rocks, they don’t warp when heated during the printing process, and cannot be flattened (although they are far less likely to warp than clay)

I thought I had something to add to the conversation. But I do not.

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to share my experience with ordering from Tina. This may trigger some of you, because I ordered Top Hat & Cane Chips. I got some samples before ordering - I disliked the Cards Mold, although I liked the idea of having a mold. I liked the texture of the NoMolds so I came across their hybrid RHC and I loved them.

Ordered 800 Chips at a price of 0.32c/Pc to Germany. Chips were $256 + Shipping $166 = $422
And I just had to pay $25 Tax so all in all I paid about $450.
Ordered on 5/4/23, on 5/18/23 they were ready for shipping and got the Chips 4 Days later on 5/22/23.
Instead of 800 Chips I got 830.

And what can I say - they look absolutely fantastic. Perfectly aligned edges on every Chip I looked at. They stack like bricks. I tested it until I had 125 Chips stacked and just stopped because my cat jumped on the table (and because I started to feel like a psycho sitting at my table stacking chips with a huge smile on my face..). Not a single Spinner so far.
Now i have to order the inlay stickers - already got some samples from a company in Germany.

I ordered some different designs because I had the idea to build two small Cashgame Sets:
10c / 50c / $2 / $10
and
25c / $1 / $5 / $20 .. just to have enough Chipdesigns to be flexible. And why not.. it was cheap. Designwise I stole some ideas from other designs (Mirage, Bally's, Bellagio, etc) and they all look fantastic.

Tina told me afterwards she thought i was a Shopowner. Maybe that’s why I got samples beforehand, some extra Chips and the shipping was so fast?

I mean, they do look really really good. Is the chip itself textured? Looks like it is a bit from the photos.
Please post some photos when you have your inlays too

Besides the mold type/choice, these are getting closer to it's full potential. Spinners gone? I guess less slippery?

Colors will never be as bright, cost of labels bump the price up significantly, maybe slippery over time, average edge alignment, and ink not printing inside mold area as well (especially red) pretty much left.

The ink sublimation inside mold irks me especially with red. I can look past colors not being as bright as Paulsons and edge alignment, but the price after getting labels is the main thing. It pretty much bumps it up to point where getting quality plastic chips or real RHC is worth the extra money. Well prices are a bit high nowadays, but you can manage with patience and luck. Even if you don't want go RHC prices, there some reasonably price Bud Jones out there if you're patient.

Wow. We're going to need a PILE of chips for a tournament league we're starting soon. The texturing on these look great, think this may be the route we need to go. Please post back about the spinner situation once you get them labelled. Following with interest.

What is the label diameter?

Labels should arrive tomorrow.

25 x 25mm

I enjoy all the cards mold replica chips. I even have a set of the WSOP replicas. To me, copying the Paulson mold exactly is just wrong though. The hat and cane is Paulson. Color combinations and patterns are just that, but the actual symbol is IP. This is going to make spotting fakes in photos difficult.

Less slippery - yes! BUT i think after some Games they might get slippery too. Have to check that out.

Spinners gone - yes! Without labels not a single spinner in 830 Chips. With labels - not a single spinner so far. But I still have 600 unlabeled Chips.

Will post some pictures soon.

Tina has a small crown mold mold too that looks great.

Yeah, I just don’t like the texture. But that’s just my preference.
Personal preference vs saying the labels are poor quality is completely different.

Did you choose a smooth finish on your labels, then?
