What do you mean? Those were vhips I brought with me to the table. That way I don't have to spend extra time and tip money at the cage everyday
What do YOU mean? Pics of chips on this forum need moar. MOAR! I don't care about your hourly. I want to see stacks... although with a solid hourly, you'll get stacks...so there's that

Not all is lost ...... We still have one thing to celebrate tonight

Is this a thing? I've tipped servers and dealers, but I'm supposed to tip when I cash out as well?

Note: I do tip at the cage when harvesting, but that's a different animal.
1. I always take care of my dealers.
2. I never use the servers (henceforth no tips). Grabbing a drink or a snack is something I do when I get up to go smoke.
3. The cage gets the table scraps. Granted @Anthony Martino is dealing with much bigger numbers than I am, but I buy in at 200, and I cash out at (just an example here) at 504, the cage gets the 4.

I often look Brad Owen's videos on youtube: every time I'm astonished by tips left to the cashier.
Usually 5-6$ at least, a few times 10$... etc.
I know dealer's tip it's an extablished tax, but cashier's tips?
(I'm aware that in Europe there is lot less tipping in casinos....)

Me: "Hi, I'd like to cash these out"

Cashier: "Wow, big night huh"

Me: "Yep. First winning night this trip."

Cashier: "OK, sweetie. One... two dollars. There you go."

Me: "No, keep it, and here's three more. I gotta tip. I don't want to look cheap."

:cautious:

Tip at cage, brush, cocktails, dealers, food counter. Not everyone does it of course

Although I HATE when cage staff say "looks like you had a good session" or something similar. I usually retort "I'm stuck 18k" because how do they know how much you won or lost?

The guy cashing out 4k in chips might've lost 6k on the night

The guy cashing in 300 maybe bought in for 60 so it was a good night for him

The cage is usually $1 unless they get stuck counting down a mountain of chips and/or have to call a supervisor when it's 2k or more, which slows things down considerably

I am not a cage tipper at casinos. Had waaaay to many times when they tried to short me. Such BS and I know it’s intentional some of the time. Last time it happened they said the amount and I just said “nope, try again”.

I've actually had them try to give me over multiple times, buying or cashing in chips. I've been fortunate not to have been shorted, but I always precount before I go to the cage

One time, I had the cage give me over. But it was for a limit game with a chip denom I wasn’t used to, so I didn’t realize it until I got to the table. I called for the floor, and gave them back the extra - I think it was $50ish. I thought for sure I’d get comped a drink. Nope, nothing. Dummy.

The two times that stick out for me, one time I was buying chips and I think I paid and asked for a rack of reds but they gave me a rack of GREENS! That was the biggest kerfuffle.

The other time I believe I was cashing out and they were going to give me $400 more than what I actually had. I corrected them on both occasions. I really don't want them to get into trouble and lose their job, plus with the cameras I don't want to get my ass banned from a property I depend upon for my livelihood.

serious question.

How is it going?

Are you profitable?

Paid taxes last year?

Im genuinely curious.
I have mixed feelings about it (not that my feelings count).
Part of me is like .. Fuck yeah. Be counter culture, make your own path however you want ! go get em'.

The other part is seeing this as a game. A game that you'd be crazy to think of as your sole livelihood.
The other players are there to play a game. win if they can , but its a game. Go back to their day jobs and play when they can.
Some lose some win, its not dependable but they/ we enjoy poker and play. so whatever.

And then to think you can gamble as a way to make a living. Historically it never works out. Using fuzzy math, id say you'd have to be EXTREMELY talented and consistent to even try and beat the variance.

Are you feeling like you are?

Would you see a future where you combine regular day job and profitable poker sessions (if they are) Supplementing your income?

I would have taken the rack of greens and cashed out at the very next window for my biggest win ever, with a Homer-like "WOO-HOO"!

Just kidding of course - but what that would look like on the security footage would have been priceless. Certainly, the casino could make back the $2k loss on the YouTube footage.
