My Journey As A Professional Poker Player (26 Viewers)

Do your card rooms have plexiglass barriers and/or mask requirements? If so, how do you find them?

Reason I'm asking, my local casinos are finally reopening their poker rooms and I'm wondering how the barriers and masks factor into your enjoyment. They've announced 8 handed barriers plus masks required.

I think there may be some benefits - some of the local casino riff raff smell like they've never met a bar of soap. Barriers and masks may actually be a positive thing.

All rooms require masks, which I'm used to

Only hard rock tampa has plexiglass 7-handed. It kills the social aspect of the game and makes communication difficult/muffled

I found the plexiglass in Vegas to be... a waste?

Everyone wore masks (though not all correctly), and everyone had the tendency to lean over the rail, thus beyond the barrier of the plexiglass.

I put a lot of faith in my mask, very little faith in the barriers. That said, that was one of the few times I went to Vegas, played poker, and didn't come down with some sort of bug, so something is working.

I think the Forum needs a "My Journey as Quasi-Clueless Recreational Poker Player" thread now.

There are tons of badly played hands in the Poker Strategy section, to start with, either in home games or in card rooms and entry-level casino games where poor chip enthusiasts like myself attempt at playing poker, naively believing we can play the game just because we like chips.:D

It would be an enormous, full-time job task though, to cherry-pick them and start such a thread.:)

At any rate, badly played hands bear a lot more educational value than correctly played ones, IMO.

Not even joking: I've been thinking about doing something like that for the past week or so :P

Anthony's thread is great, so I figured I'd spoof it by just saying "hey, I suck at poker, want to see me struggle and sweat in the hopes of becoming incrementally better?" :D

Not even joking here either. Playing ABC poker will make you a winner in most small stakes games.
Just don't tell anyone that you read this:

Guy raised pre from blinds, I'm on button and call after others

I flop two pair, he bets $75, I just call, SB calls

Turn is a blank, he bets $150, I pot and cover, he has $250 behind

SB all in for less. BB eventually calls. We go twice

He hits the 5 on one river and pairs the 3 on the other to scoop as a 2:1 dog whomp whomp

Won a 3 way all-in on the flop, back to healthy

Had AJ42 nut suit and called raise pre, flop 842 rainbow. Raiser pots, mext guy gets it in, I cover both

We go twice. Up against AAT6 and AKxx

I make a boat on 1st board and 2 pr holds on 2nd board

Whomp whomp

Had JJ87 and flop 964 rainbow. Pot raised pre, I lead for 150, 2 callers

Turn offsuit 5, get it in with guy who covers we go twice

He has T78x

First board rivers the 4-outer hitting an 8. 2nd board is a 6 so we chop that, I get quartered
