New Casinos / New Chips Thread (3 Viewers)

A brand new Rivers Casino!? So, they will have mint new house mold fracs!? Forget dealing, just harvest chips for PCF; you'll make more money :)

Money aside, I've already recruited some coworkers on what I need them to do on opening weekend. Rest assured, there will be harvesting!

@daschuck77 and I have already discussed it.

They've figured out that people are going to gamble anyway, so why waste money on hiring a good graphic designer?

Because casinos are all about pushing their brand in your face, left right and center, 24/7. For a relatively small amount of money, the payoff is there. For everybody who takes away a $5 or higher value chip as a souvenir because they like the look of it, a large profit is immediately realized.

Even non-chippers who do vlogs mention really nice chips when they are at a casino. Branding goes a long way to make someone want to come back.

To the original point, I can see what you're saying. But it's not like there's effort to go through to make a crappy chip look good. Anyone here could take any fugly design/color/spots and fix it in a day. I think, if anything, casinos must be paying MORE to go out of their way to make the chips undesirable.

... but expanding on that, why would they? How much does it cost a casino to get chips made? $1 / chip? I'm being generous there; when ordering 50,000 chips, I think they can negotiate a better price. OK - so since most of their chips are $1 or above, they are making money when people harvest. Why not make it more appealing?

I think my Facebook is reading PCF. I’ve never worked at a casino, never searched for work at a casino, never searched for rivers casino. So strange

It's pretty well-known that FB's tracking cookies follow you around. The have trackers and tools all over the place. Here's an article that describes it a bit, plus tells you how what settings will disallow (some of) it.

https://www.wired.com/story/ways-facebook-tracks-you-limit-it/

A relevant snippet:

"Facebook's reach also goes way beyond Facebook itself. It has partnerships with a whole host of marketing firms and ad networks so that activities on other sites—including but not limited to logging into a third-party service with your Facebook account—can be combined with your Facebook profile.

This activity has attracted enough bad press that Facebook announced a tool in August called "Off-Facebook Activity" that will disconnect this data from what you actually do on Facebook. It's a more comprehensive solution, but still not widely available. It also still doesn't affect how much data Facebook actually collects, it just breaks the association between what you do on Facebook and off it. If you're shopping for shoes on a third-party retail site, you won't suddenly see ads for them all over your News Feed."

Yeah. I could see if I searched for it. I just read you type it :)

Harrah's Metropolis got new 0.50 and 1.00 chips, but all the other denominations have not been replaced. I asked a couple people, and they didn't know if or when they would be replaced.
At least they are Paulson!

Nobody’s gonna comment on the faux shaped inlay on the $1? What’s the design? It’s like a weird new one.

Obvious attempts at getting us to stop harvesting (which won't work). It's fugly; like someone just gave up. Or they misprinted them and then said "oh well".

I went to Harrah's Metropolis a few times about 15 years ago but I don't remember any 50c chips.... have they always had them or is it new(ish)? Or only on certain games?

Yeah, I honestly think casinos keep tabs on this fourm and then when they make anything that may be harvested they just tell the designer to make it as fugly as possible

Is that a faux shaped inlay? The “negative” isn’t the base color of the chip.
It's hard to make a faux shaped inlay look like anything when the base color of the chip is white, and the background of the inlay design is also white.

These are normally only used on Blackjack tables for paying 3:2. Chipguide doesn't show the date it was added, but this used to be Players Riverboat and Chipguide shows a 0.50 chip for them too.

That riverboat shows what they were going for... But on a chip like an RHC it's just a hot mess. If they can't center it, it just looks drunk.

Snoqualmie Casino is swapping out their old rack of Bud Jones with Paulsons... one denomination at a time. As of 8/28 the only chips that have been shown are the $2.50,$1K and $5K. The $1K and $5K are already out because they are new denominations to this place. The snapper is RHC and the $1K and $5K are 43mm IHCs. The $1K is Blaze orange chip with a 4V418 pattern.

Sorry I don't collect live $1K chips, so you're gonna have to use your imagination, but here is the snapper though! I also found a pic of the $5K from some high rolling craps player online.

I hope that @TheChipRoom can get the Bud Jones. God, I wish Snoqualmie still had the poker room.
