New Casinos / New Chips Thread (4 Viewers)

Don't bother. I commisioned somebody (Zombie?) to go there this summer on a two-rack search&retrieve mission, only to find out they just don't exist, at least not at the casino. Details buried in a thread on bluescreen somewhere. Total bummer.

Horrible news, man what a sweet looking $1. That was what I would’ve done too, relabel to a T1000. Bummer.

In 2018, my Home Casino - the Spielbank Berlin - changed completly from Euro Jetons to high value 14,5g B&G Chips.
I always waited for this - so I was very happy.
My first question was: "What will happen to the old cash values? Will it sell as giveaways". The Floorman says that's possible but at first they had to wait because too many of the jetons are still in circulation outside the house. Many people took these as souveniers.
I don't know what he means. People really do this?? ;)

Get this....

The SLS in Vegas is being rebranded. If you've ever been there you'll know why...
On a good note the manager I was talking to said this time the owner is using an actual designer.
I laughed and said good. Because it's widely accepted that your chips are bar-none, the ugliest, most uninspiring tokens in Vegas. :p

I stayed there once. The hallways of the hotel are... unique.

Probably mentioned and most know already but I just found this thread, new Wynn Ecnore opening in Boston in June

Another casino with gawd-awful chips. Let's hope Wynn gets these ones right.
Yep I’m not expecting much at all. They’re close enough though that I may just pick up a playable set the first game I host after they open and cash them in the next day... cause why not?

I live fifteen minutes away if anyone wants me to pick them up a rack or two I'd be happy too
Hi Joe

Depending on the design, and them being RHC, i may be in for a rack of mint or close to, 1s.

I have a relabeled rhc set and always looking for new denoms.

Ill PM you :)

Geoff

That looks like roulette, but the main focus of millennial gaming has been electronic skill based games.

Below was a recent shot Mrs Zombie found in Vegas.

They do not seem to be performing very well though. Until the industry figures out how to award participation trophies, millennials aren't going to play.

I have five new casinos that started using table games in my immediate area. :wow: :confused
The rates are flipping insane, however only offering $25 and up and the craps table at the one doesn't open until 6pm-3am...:cautious:
And the chips at Mohawk are just stupid...can you say "dirty stacks at the black jack" five times fast?

Get your name in to buy the snappers after they have to remake them.

Question for people who are familiar with casino operations and their chip buying: Who the duck is responsible for chip designs at casinos? Is there someone with that title? Is it the interior decorators? People who design/order the super ugly carpets? Food service guy? President? CFO?

But seriously, is there someone in charge or does it usually fall within the purview of some corporate VP of operations/schmuck?

I'm not 100% on this but as far as I know the art is in some cases the only thing provided to GPI. The overall design, spot patterns and colors is sometimes left to the in-house designer. Seeing as though all of the company's chip are so similar between all the casinos I have to assume the casino had it's hand in that process.

I agree because I think 80% of the chips out there could be designed much better by 90% of these people on this forum who aren't designers.
But then again we are probably the only .0008% of the people using these chips who give 2 shits what they look like.

...and yet ANOTHER new casino pops up in Ontario. Chatham just opened up a new Cascades casino. Anybody headed there from Ontario or Michigan let me know. I'd happily pay for a sample.

Looking through the site, this is a worrisome sight. Advertising "Millennial" electronic poker tables. :banghead:

This generation of kids may be the dagger for traditional poker rooms. I mean, poker is a pretty intimidating game. It can get downright nasty sometimes. And nobody wants their "feelings" hurt when there isn't a safe-space to hide in.

The Valley Forge casino ( Valley Forge , PA ) last fall changed over their chips from : The first to the second . They have stopped giving out the older one and after next month will stop accepting them back .
