So far my favorite of the originals is the donkey mold (seriously, inner and outer rings and all) except one donkey should be facing the other way for the Reverse Donkey mold (should be added to the poll)

This one not the pinita looking one...

The Greek Key molds have been over done, we have at least 3 of them now.

I have yet to put my hands on samples. My question is does the card mold look out of place? Are there members who wish they went with no mold instead?
I wouldn't say out of place, I've got a few of the samples. I'm not an old head and haven't handled many clays outside casinos, but I don't like how the art matches up on the cards mold. Probably not the right person to ask though, I love the textured no-mold and any indentation would impinge on the art.

I like the idea of some of these. Greek mold is the winner by far among what we started with. Maybe I will add some of these and do a new poll. Either way it will be a bit of a gamble on our part as we will need a combined order of 20,000. There won’t be a mold made and samples. It will be made and the first order produced.

The cherry works well for a vintage casino. The lightning bolt is hideous lol

Will card molds still be an option next month? I’d like to add on to my Picard collection. Thanks.

Also just wanted to point out -- for all of the 'new idea' folks -- that a THC-style design template with eight images is probably not the best approach for a 39mm ceramic.

Restricting the number of images to just six not only creates a cleaner-looking and less cluttered design, but also retains quite a bit more of the base chip material (i.e., extra weight). Even four main images with a smaller "filler" image in-between each (lines, dots, etc.) is preferable to the "standard eight" approach, from a weight perspective.

Is Dave's point worth considering. Would six images be better than eight?

So everyone is going to be ok when the Greek blurs out the edge spots?
I don’t know that the Greek would blur the edge spots. Been looking at different cards molds and none of the spots are blurred. Only blur is when there is lettering in the mold.

The card molds are open and not grooves. Look at the circle and see how that blurs? Now picture that as a pattern that goes the whole way around. Without getting to see a sample before production, I would be worried about 20,000 chips that look… bad. Like I said before, I’m not a chip making expert but my old job was finishing and product development. Might be worth a shot but I’ll be passing.

Had the same thought, but couldn't articulate like you did. Like most brand new car models, I'd probably wait until the 2nd or 3rd run to see how they turn out.

Honestly I'd order a set in any one of these, they're all cool (of course I'm biased towards the lightning bolts :)

Seems like people take a lot of time to make the edge spots look like real clay. Would be a shame to put a bunch of blurred grooves over them. If the designed didn’t have edge spots, I wouldn’t be worried.

I think as a collective, we're well past the copyright cares on a Chinese top hat and cane mold.

Lots of people clearly want it and many of those advocating for not copying it as part of some righteous stance, are the same people salivating over or paying $10+ for chips made and obtained under false pretenses, from the very same company - CLEARLY against their wishes.

One of these two things has a far greater chance of impacting their business and it's not making Chinese knockoff chips from long-closed casinos or home/fantasy sets.

*Do not own either of the above.

Now picture this the whole way around the outside rim. Just trying to be helpful.

That circle is already on every cards mold chip. And it looks like that wording is blurred. You mentioned the edge spots and they don’t blur on cards mold so I don’t think they will blur on Greek mold. Wording would need to be limited to the inner circle no doubt.

Very well said! I am a big Paulson fan and collector. Most of the comments against a Tina hat and cane mold are just baloney. The reason I am not trying to make one is because I just don’t want one. I am not trying to remake Paulson.

Would you want some "depth" in the cherries, like with the card mold, where one is "behind" the other:

Adding concentric circles also lessens weight, but can embellish a chip's 'finished product' look.

Elaborate designs are better suited for a larger 43mm canvas, which has more available real estate and a heftier starting weight.
Interesting, I'm sure it's just because I'm not used to it, but 6 seems a little too sparse, is my first impression, but I'm sure I'd get used to it:

The card molds don’t hit the whole edge spots and I have some here that are blurred where the card molds hit the edge spots. It’s not as noticeable as it’s not covering the whole edge spot. Which the Greek mold would do. I could be totally wrong. Just wanted to throw it out there. It’s habit. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah I got your point. We are very early in the process. Tina will weigh in on the issue if we decide on Greek before any chips are made.
