What poker timer program are you using there?

There has been a few .25/.50 games recently where players have cashed out in the 600-700 range. Our max buy in is 100. Rebuys are 100 or up to 50% of the deep stack. On the nights when this happens it definitely feels like were playing at the wrong stakes lol.

I quickly learned that in NL the max buyin is FAR more relevant than the blinds. I host three games; two .25/.50 games ($40 max buyin) with my neighbors and childhood friends and a $1/2 game with my "poker friends". The last game started as weekly $2/4 or $3/6 limit with $60 buyins back in 2001 and switched to $1/2 NL when Casino started spreading NL. Our original buyin for $1/2 was $150 and stayed that way for years thought the frequency of the games went down. Someone winning $600 was a big night.

Recently we "got the band back together" after a few years and they requested a $300 buyin because that's what Borgata does. The game is TOTALLY different. Lots more gambling and huge swings. A big night is now $900-1200. I'm seriously thinking of moving it back to $200. It's getting hard to keep players coming.

All you get with small blinds and big buyins is lots of people seeing the flop which makes for wild hands

I think you hit the nail on the head here. My $1/$1 game has seen people cash usually a minimum of $500-$600 for the big stack. but a couple times it has been upwards of $1000

DUDE with stacks like that on the table, why you bothering with paper plates? just get plates made of Gold and throw them out when you're done with them.

With all the beautiful chips I play you notice the paper plate!!! Hahahahahaha :D

  thats what i mean! not only his chip stack value at your game, but the Chips themselves! Sweet Christmas

EDIT: trust me buddy!! i dont think ill ever NOT notice a chip (or set) on a poker table again

Local 25/50 game at a buddies house. He supplied the table I supplied the Horseshoe chips and Prestige and Copag bridge jumbo index cards.

Received many complements on the chips and had several comments about how nice the chips were, always makes a chipper happy. :D

They slapped the table together in a few hours this afternoon, not the most appealing looking table but it served its purpose, cards slid well, lighting actually helped and the padding and rail weren't too bad. In for $40 out at the end of the night at $160.

Hadn't played with 80% of the guys who played tonight but they have a weekly game I have been invited to last several weeks and keep missing....After seeing how soft the game was tonight, I will be sure to attend regularly going forward. (y)(y)

I have played in some stupid games like that with cheap blank chips but strange color values. Most likely because of what they coukd do because of the set breakdown.

I always had to do what you did, keep them in a line from low to high, still get confusing though. Denominated chip for life!
