Took advantage of the federal workforce being off today (no traffic) and went into DC to hit Costco.
In! I’ve been staring at my second bottle, wondering when I should open it. I guess today is the day.

That's about the cheapest I've seen it here, it ranges from $170 to $200.

And I have just a bit left, we're going to let this batch 3 bottle breathe a bit, then do a comparison down the road. Maybe around Christmas.
I just drove up to Washington from Oregon to pay those taxes. Sucks, costco can't sell liquor in oregon. But I got some of that c924 as well

I did not know that. They used to have a BIB rye, but never saw one in the wild
Really? Have they been around that long already? I thought all their stuff was only 2-3 years old, and just tasted like it was 6 years. A 6 year old Texas whiskey gonna taste like it's 10 years old, at least! I need to be on the lookout.
I just recently cracked the cask strength Rye and it is wonderful.

Yeah, I did a little research last night. Last year they released a 5 year bourbon, also to great reviews. They began distilling in 2017, so they have been around just barely long enough now to put out this 6 year old bourbon. One of my son's lives in Austin, so next time we visit him, I'm going to try to plan a trip to the distillery. Apparently they have some awesome blends and single barrels that are only available from the distillery.

If you like that Texas funk, you should try Garrison Bros. It's pricier, but their special releases are outstanding. Another good Texas distiller is Ironroot.

I've been one of their biggest fans since I discovered them back in '22.
The flavor profiles just pop for me, and many times have won or placed for me in any blinds I've had them a part of (including against some real hitters).
I'm planning on a trip there myself next year and can't wait.
